To ask about this chick in my garden?

Sorry, blatantly posted for traffic.

There's a baby bird in my garden, possibly a thrush.

Too young to fly, aimlessly hopping around but now seems tired and listless.

There's nothing I can do is there?

It's so tiny and helpless and feel awful just watching it.

I've checked for nests but garden has three huge trees in and could have fallen from any number of them.

Will it eat seeds of I wet them and try to hand feed it?

You need to put it in your bra and feed it beetles.

I hope the above link might be useful to you - the people who run this wildlife rescue are local to me, lovely people and I've known them for many years - I'm sure they'd be happy to advise you over the phone.

Thank you so much for the link, it covers the "please leave it" criteria so has reassured me.

I'm watching out for an adult hopping down to feed it, no signs as of yet but fingers crossed!

put a peice of bread in its bowl

TheConstantLurker · 26/06/2013 20:34

Find a worm and put it in front of the chick.

KittensoftPuppydog · 26/06/2013 20:44

Don't feed it bread. They need protein. Bread will kill it. If no mother arrives feed it chicken egg with a syringe. Worked for a baby pigeon. Actually, google it, but no bread.

Wereonourway · 26/06/2013 20:47

Mother bird has found it, and fed it. It's on the ground and not really sheltered so hopefully no cats or other animals see or hear it.

I'd just leave it

I've had one in my garden all afternoon and mum's just been down to it

WeAreSix · 26/06/2013 20:48

Baby blackbirds look like thrushes.

iago · 26/06/2013 20:57

You can peg a box to your washing line and put the chick in that. Mother can still feed it and it is out of harm's way, though I wouldn't trust squirrels or magpies.

cozietoesie · 26/06/2013 20:59

As dusk sets in, it should scuttle for a bush to shelter under. If you have a cat, keep it in tonight though.

TheConstantLurker · 26/06/2013 21:57

Yes put it in a thick bush, if you have one. Wink

MyBaby1day · 27/06/2013 04:02

Maybe find a worm and put it in it's little mouth. Aawww, sounds so cute Smile. Failing that try and call someone who might help it. Hope it goes on o.k. Nice of you to care op.

FringeEvent · 27/06/2013 16:55

I'm glad the mother bird returned!
