Dd1 is in year two. Quite often she'll get on with spellings, piano practice or reading without fuss and it'll all be done before 8am. Other times, she'll shout quite loudly that she hates it (whatever the job might be), it's stupid and she doesn't want to do it. It's quite forceful but if I say "I know, it's a pain isn't it, but it's got to be done" in sympathetic tone, she'll go ahead and get it done. Aibu to allow her to vent a bit or should I do something about it? Seems trivial, but I want to make sure she gets a chance to express anger and frustration but not sure if this helps or feeds it.

Define forceful

It's fine - but you are a bit of a nutter if you are doing all that in the mornings! Grin

Forceful = shouty voice and sometimes an accompanying stamp. I admit we're mad, and two years of sleep deorivation has a lot to do with it!) but our three are up early and there are two and a half hours between them getting up and us leaving for school. At least she has the incentive of being able to play or whatever after school. Reminding of that diffuses it too.

I don't think its a problem...if she was being abusive or damaging property or hurting herself or others....byte blowing off steam a bit either mum agreeing that life can be a bit if a pain at times but we just have to get on with it? IMO that's healthy. Suppressing a child's emotions I feel is unhealthy - they never learn how to regulate, cope and find solutions to everyday giggles and inconveniences.
