Well, yes, I am probably being unreasonable! But I'm doing it anyway!
Today we attended the school summer fair. We drove - because school is 11 miles away.
The school is on a quiet residential road, just off a quiet main road.
The majority of parents at the school don't drive. Every day at the school run there are about 15 cars in total. It isn't your typical over run with cars type school.
The street has semi detatched houses, all with drives. There are no double yellows. Just the usual markings right outside the school.
DP parked outside a house near the school today. He was parked considerately not near a drive way, not on the pavement, in fact, I couldn't fault his parking in any way believe me, I usually do, and make him repark!. There are no other places to park other than outside a house - not for miles around. It's all residential housing.
When we came back out 45 minutes later, he had been boxed in. A large van had parked 3cm from his rear bumper, and it was covering 2 driveways. The car in front was there when we parked, and there was about 40cm between the cars. So not enough to get out the space.
To cut a long story short, the van turned out to belong to the house we were parked outside.
He reckoned he was perfectly with in his rights to box someone in because we were parked outside his house.
So, is it unreasonable to park outside a house? Is it unreasonable to box another car in just because you are annoyed that someone parked outside your house?!
I sympathise with the guy - I live on a main road. People park outside our house now and then. But that's life. You can't do anything about it! But I don't go bloody boxing cars in for it! I asked him if he could say he had never parked his van outside someones house ever. He had no answer....!
