To buy myself a birthday cake?

It was my 22nd birthday on Sunday, then DDs 2nd on Monday (16th and 17th). I didn't get a cake :( (DP and I usually sort out each others cakes) his reasoning was that no-one else eats cake apart from me, DD will have a little bit but not much, so it would be down to me to eat 2 birthday. I still feel disappointed at not getting a cake of my own :( I really wanted the caterpillar cake that Tesco do Blush :o

So when DDs cake is all finished, AIBU to go and damn well buy myself a caterpillar birthday cake?

If I was there, I'd make you a cake, TheCunnyFunt.

WIBU to be a bit sad that, though dh did remember to buy me a cake last year, it was a Stig cake, not a pretty cake with pink on?

INeedSomeSun · 22/06/2013 16:10

Seems perfectly reasonable to me!

noisytoys · 22/06/2013 16:57

YANBU. It's my birthday tomorrow and after church I'm going to Sainsburys to buy my own cake that way I get to choose it. I might even buy 2 because we are having a party and there won't be enough cake to go around otherwise Smile

ChaoticTranquility · 22/06/2013 16:59

his reasoning was that no-one else eats cake apart from me

Reasoning not good enough...buy a cake Wink

NeverBeenToMe · 22/06/2013 17:01

We've bought a (reduced price) birthday cake and it's nobody's birthday in this house!

MrsLouisTheroux · 22/06/2013 17:01

🎁 Yanbu OP! Buy one! 🍫

ClaraOswald · 22/06/2013 17:03

Nope. whatever makes you happy on the cake front.

I would make myself a cake and eat it all by myself as I don't like the sponge they doBlush

A Bruce Bogtrotter cake.

MikeLitoris · 22/06/2013 17:08

I make my own birthday cake. Dp wouldn't think to buy me one.

I am Envy at these new emoticons.

MrsMook · 22/06/2013 17:09

I got myself a mini birthday cake this year. DH was working away, and DS is allergic to milk and egg (I wasn't in the mood for baking) I enjoyed scoffing it all.

Get yourself a cake!

edwardsmum11 · 22/06/2013 17:12

I bought myself one this year, made one for hubby and bought one for mils 70th. I am cake woman tbh.

I've never seen the tesco caterpillar cake, and being curious I had to google it. The "instructions" on the tesco site really made me chuckle Grin

Preparation Guidelines
Remove outer packaging before cutting. Place cake still on its board on a firm surface. Hold the cake and with a long clean serrated sharp knife, cut the cake into slices using a sawing action. It is important to keep the knife clean between slices.

RafaellaNhaKyria · 22/06/2013 17:17

Argh. bold fail Blush

boatclub · 22/06/2013 17:30

YANBU. Buy the cake, stick a candle in it and make everyone sing happy birthday to you. I made myself one earlier this week and let DS2 do the icing and sprinkles

Sallystyle · 22/06/2013 17:46

It's my birthday today. I didn't get a cake but I got enough chocolates to last me a day year.

TheCunnyFunt · 22/06/2013 18:34

Thank you SDTG, that's very kind of you :)
Yanbu to be sad at the Stig cake though unless you are a big fan of Top Gear.

Those emoticons are amazing! How do you do them? I know how to do Bear but I didn't realise there were other secret ones!

I question if it would be ok to buy me a birtday cake if it wasn't my birthday. I bloody love vanilla cream and jam sandwich cake with a foot of icing. Would have it over an apple pie any day of the week

TheCunnyFunt · 22/06/2013 22:32

What's wrong with eating birthday cake if it's not your birthday?

Actually, thinking about it, where is the line between plain old cake and birthday cake (obviously if the cake has writing on saying happy birthday then of course it's a B.day cake)? At what point does a cake become birthday cake? How do we differentiate between the two?

YANBU at all. I've bought myself a b'day cake and I've baked myself a b'day cake before.

I love cake, really really love it. YUM!! Grin

TapselteerieO · 22/06/2013 22:48

Yadnbu, buy a cake - he could have got your favourite cake if no-one else eats any.

Never get a cake, though I make cakes for everyone, not even for my recent significant birthday. I was ill, but would have been quite happy to see the dc enjoying some cake on my birthday . Next year I am going to make sure I have cake in the house just in case.

TheCunnyFunt · 23/06/2013 19:07

There's one piece to go :o
