No-one else's are. And I don't care in the slightest about hers.

I was interested to read that her baby will be delivered by Sir Somebody Something, the Queen's Gynaecologist.

I think I might prefer someone who hadn't gazed up my Husband's Granny's Royal Octogenerian Ooh-la-la actually. And as the last time she had a baby was nearly 50 years ago . . . PLEASE tell me he's not some crusty old duffer who delivered Prince Edward.

I really hope everything goes OK for her.

Quite apart from hoping that for every woman.

Imagine having to work through grief/tragedy whilst the whole world was watching? Dreadful.

If this was me I would be doing a bait and switch. As in announcing with much noise one plan, whilst quietly planning something completely different...

meditrina · 20/06/2013 06:55

If you're not bothered, why start a thread about it?

Or rather, can I remind people that MZnHQ said a while go (when Royal baby threads were popping up all over the place on the thinnest pretexts) that there is a Royal Family board They were urging people to use it, so that the genuinely not-bothered cn hide it.

meditrina · 20/06/2013 06:56

Royal Family Topic

saintlyjimjams · 20/06/2013 07:01

at 'the birth will not be announced on Twitter'. The DM cracks me up sometimes.

HollyBerryBush · 20/06/2013 07:17

Because 2.2 billion people across the world are in The Commonwealth and have a high regard for the Monarchy - it is of interest to them, and believe me a lot of them still gather round the one radio or TV in the village when an even, important to them, is pending.

The fact that a large proportion of people in this country are pseudo republicans is neither here nor there, could you not all just bugger off to Australia with your doom and gloom?

YABU. Makes a lot of sense to let the world's paparazzi know which hospital to camp outside of...

Sparklingbrook · 20/06/2013 08:45

The most interesting detail is that Pippa and Mrs M will be present. Reminds me of a bad episode of OBEM. Sad

Why doesn't she have a home birth. Nobody would know then.

I think you will turn out to be very accurate Would.

ihavenonameonhere · 20/06/2013 08:53

Because she is giving birth to the future head of State.

I find it interesting personally

Sparklingbrook · 20/06/2013 08:54

And why go on about Jill Dando FGS? Angry

wigglesrock · 20/06/2013 09:15

YANBU I had BBC News 24 on the background last night on mute and caught a bit of it. I assumed she had had the baby. I can think of no reason why a couple not knowing the sex of their unborn baby is actually news no matter who they are.

2rebecca · 20/06/2013 09:16

I wish royalty/ celebrities would keep their medical problems/ interventions to themselves and that the media would stop reporting them.
It's not news and it's boring.
The Angelina Joli story had some public relevence, but all we needed to hear was "Angelina Joli is having a double mastectomy and reconstruction because she has a genetically high chance of developing breast cancer."
Just that, just the once.
People wittering on about their illnesses/ birth plans etc are boring.
Your relatives and friends may be interested in it. Why should strangers care?
If you're the PM or monarch and your illness affects your ability to do your job then it's relevant to "the people" but otherwise it's none of my business and not "news" just gossip.

FrankellyMyDearIDontGiveADamn · 20/06/2013 09:20

I'm sure Kate and William would much rather no one knew anything about their birth plans, but the fact is we live in a 24 hour news society and if they didn't put out statements the ress would probably make it up as they went along, quoting random sources.

Katnisscupcake · 20/06/2013 09:20

Don't care about the reasons - I just LOVE hearing about it! I'm really looking forward to the birth because I like the Royal family and in particular I like Kate and Wills. So there. Wink

FreudiansSlipper · 20/06/2013 09:25

YANBU

Maybe the older generations in commonwealth countries still hold the royals in high regard the younger generation have not been oppressed in the same way, they have a greater understanding of what the commonwealth was about and that was not to benefit their country attitudes are changing

IShallWearMidnight · 20/06/2013 09:40

we were quite pleased to hear about it because [conspiracy theory alert] it might explain why DD hasn't got an outpatients appointment at St Marys in mid July like she was supposed to have done. They're obviously clearing the area as much as possible and don't want DD fainting all over the paps Wink

Flobbadobs · 20/06/2013 10:51

Because members of the press from all over the planet will be reporting it for the benefit of those who are interested. The palace are managing the inevitable interest as best they can. Not everyone is interested in every aspect of the news bulletins, some like the Royals some don't. Those that don't need to find the mute button or the channel change button from July onwards tbh, like it or lump it royal baby mania will be everywhere!
Fwiw, it's no longer headlines in the DM. James Gandolfini is Sad

Meglet · 20/06/2013 11:00

yanbu. It was stating the bleeding obvious.

I hope that in private she is being treated like any other pregnant woman and not being expected to have a certain type of birth. For all we know she could be terrified of giving birth and rather wishing she could have a planned cs like a civilian would (probably) get if they had a birth phobia.

However the baby gets out I hope they are both safe and well.

Ishallwearmidnight oooo, you could have been on the telly!

mrsjay · 20/06/2013 11:02

Oh i dunno maybe because she is about to pop out an heir to the throne or something Grin

YourMaNoBraBackOfMyCar · 20/06/2013 11:15

I'm that uninterested in this topic I have made this thread just to let all y'all know just how uninterested I really am... :o

LastTangoInDevonshire · 20/06/2013 11:32

If you don't like it, don't read about it. If you object to the Royal Family, go and live in another country that doesn't have one.

Just stop effing moaning about our future King/Queen.

mrsjay · 20/06/2013 11:35

Come off it, this is as old as the hills. I'm old enough to remember when Diana was pregnant with William and there was more fuss then.

I can remember William being born and all the hoha that came with it it isnt a new thing infact I think kate has got off lightly the papers were following Diana everywhere

Flobbadobs · 20/06/2013 11:44

mrsjay I don't think the media had a choice but to back off this time considering the blame that was thrown at them after Diana died.
We'll see though, this is only the start of it, she's got a month to go yet!
