To want to smack DH upside the head sometimes!

welshfirsttimemummy · 18/06/2013 21:49

We have a 4 week old DS, and sometimes DH just doesn't move quick enough! If he is coughing, or being sick, he just takes his merry time sitting him up and getting the muslin cloth. I just want to smack him and say "hurry the fuck up!" Grin

But seriously he is a fantastic dad, just want him to react quicker! Maybe it's these damn hormones.....

Sounds familiar

ChaosTrulyReigns · 18/06/2013 21:53

Hmm...

Have you spoken to him about this?

FredFredGeorge · 18/06/2013 22:28

Doesn't moving quicker just mean less cleaning up to do as you catch less? So he's not hurting anyone but himself surely - why get involved, look back at the screen!

wannabedomesticgoddess · 18/06/2013 22:29

I have found that when a baby vomits, the reaction time has no bearing on the mess.

DoJo · 19/06/2013 00:46

I agree that it depends WHY you want him to move quicker? If you're worried about your baby's health, that's one thing (although he's probably fine - they are good at directing their sick so it doesn't choke them) but if it's about the mess then just let him work it out for himself, and if he doesn't, then he will be the one cleaning it up anyway, so don't let it bother you!

Are you me Op?

AdoraBell · 19/06/2013 03:37

I remember Those hormonesGrin, fortunately for my DH I was too busy with t'other twin to notice him not jumping up quick enough. Just let him find his own rate of rápido responce.

Congrats on your new baby.

DoodleAlley · 19/06/2013 03:52

This is a familiar complaint in our house.

There are times when it is justifiable and SH is working to improve on that.

Other times I am being unreasonable and it's my stress or frustration over the situation talking. I'm trying to deal with these times with mixed success.

TheOrchardKeeper · 19/06/2013 07:02

I'm normally very calm but DP often insists on getting up to see to DS when he wakes then faffs and takes ages to go in. It gives me the rage... Angry

DoodleAlley · 19/06/2013 08:02

You are of course 4 weeks into a new baby which is stressful and tiring and quite frankly the wrong side of sanity for anyone so don't go too hard on yourself about this.

RhondaJean · 19/06/2013 08:07

Is he putting your baby at risk, if not let it be, he is entitled to do things his way with his child, the main thing is he is doing it! If you think it's a choking hazard then tell him.

welshfirsttimemummy · 19/06/2013 15:47

No he would never put the baby at risk, I just think I am probably being hormonal believing I could do it better Grin

But yes the rage sounds familiar!

I believe YABU to use the phrase 'upside the head.'

Unless you are in the Gap Band, of course.

Dratted hormones.

Domestic violence against men is funny.
