For molesting 14 underage girls?!

Because that's all BBC broadcaster Stuart Hall has been sentenced to after admitting to 14 offences in the past, one of them being a 9 year old girl.

AIBU in thinking this is an absolute joke and wonder what the hell the judge was thinking?

Judges have to adhere to sentencing guidelines based on the type of crime committed. They don't just make it up on a whim.
There is also a world of difference between touching a child in a sexually inappropriate way, as Hall did and having full, non-consensual sex with a child. He got the sentence to fit his crime. He is an old man going to jail. It is not going to be easy or pleasant for him no matter how long he serves and i think at the end of the day he will have got what he deserves.

I don't blame the judge. I was just listening to it on news24 and they were explaining that the judge was bound by the sentencing guidelines of the time. Therefore, if he had committed the crimes last year, the judge could have given him a far longer sentence.

And the things he called those poor victims. I an honestly ashamed to be British. Although it is quite telling there's a review planned already.
