I'm single and in my late forties. 3 teenagers starting to fly the nest but it'll be a few years yet. Staring to think I need to get a Plan or I'll be miserable when they go. So far I've got:

  • see the Northern Lights

  • bathe in a natural hot spring

  • walk from Joan O'Groats to Land's End (not really sure about that one - might do Coast-to-Coast first!)

  • volunteer abroad for six months/a year

I also have lots of vague thoughts about accomplishments in my work life which I can't quite formulate into a goal.

Blush I don't know what it means ragwort?! I assumed storage for the bits of paper you'd written the wishes on!

Doesn't it mean 'things you want to do before you kick the bucket'? Perhaps it doesn't mean that, I am worried now Blush.

As my name on here suggests I am pondering my midlife and although I've never compiled a list if I think about it I could put on:
Learn to swim - check (aged39)
Learn to sail - check(aged 40)
run a 5k race - check
play football for a team - check(aged45-now)
go paintballing- check
archery -check
Ride a motorbike/quad- check
Travel- Visit Scotland, European tour of historical/natural sights, Visit Iceland, Alaska
Learn to play an instrument
Learn to sing rather than strangled cat impression
Perform either music or acting in public
Sail on a tall ship
Drive a rally car

As you can see I'm about half way there..travelling is unlikely I'm too poor!

Luckily the pony wasnt shod as according to the A&E dr it would have removed half my face if it had been. Just a hoof shaped bruise a bit of swelling and a big split on the inside of my cheek. The horse gets bigger every time I recount the event.... it will be a shire horse by the end of the week.

I've managed a few of mine so far which included seeing my 4yo DD perform on stage (soooooo cute!), learn to play the bass guitar and live in 100+ yr old house/money pit.

I must be a bit unambitious as I have no desire to travel abroad (as long as Scotland and Wales dont count). I havent seen enough of my own wonderful country and have desire to pollute the world by flying my own fat arse around it.

I was lucky enough to check off photographing the Northern Lights last year. Didn't even have to go to Iceland! Saw them from the banks of Loch Leven in Fife. Spectacular.

Some of the other things still waiting to be checked off include:

Visit Pripyat and the Chernobyl exclusion zone
Learn to play the piano
Visit all the Scottish islands
Own a Newfoundland (unfortunately I'll have to divorce DH before this one can happen!)
Dance tango in buenos aires (learnt tango just need to get there)
Dance with my best friend under the eiffle tower
