AIBU?

To think that Charles Saatchi is deplorable piece of work!

I don't know if anyone has seen the the pictures if Charles Saatchi with his hand around Nigella Lawsons throat. I can't believe anybody would think it's ok to do this, not least outside a restaurant in full view of other diners when you both are well known to the public!

The pictures make incredibly uncomfortable viewing, Nigella looks petrified.

When I see a woman being choked in a restaurant, my first reaction is shock, horror, disgust, sadness.

Not, 'oh, I wonder which restaurant it is, cos they allow smoking.'

Can't see what was so terrible about what Holly said?

Agree that this is awful and hopefully she'll have the emotional courage to do something about it. Poor thing.

Oh, okay, grey.

To be fair, my first thought was 'how can he be smoking.' I just didn't say it out loud because I immediately realized they were eating outside.

I'm with Holly tbh.

Horrible situation but she has the means financially which is more than a lot of people do.

I also doubt that she is without friends.

I'm the first to say that HBB is often an insensitive, obnoxious poster but I don't see that she wrote anything particularly rude on this thread.

I hope Nigella does leave him.

I read somewhere [not the DM] that he mocks her food and refuses it, choosing to live on stuff such as cereal and eggs plus eating out frequently, in view of these awful images what must he be like to live with?

I wasn't being nasty - just pragmatic.

With regard to the cigarette comment I first made was a response to a Daily Mirror comment

She's caught in a trap, an emotional one for sure, now it's physical.

I have every empathy for the woman if she doesn't have the strength to walk away. But she does have the financial resources to unlike a lot of women who post in MN.

But for sure, she will excuse him.

The only stray thought about this that did pop into my head today, was the age difference and I am very clutching at straws - has he got a dementia with violent tendencies?

Holly. You wouldn't know pragmatism if it bit you on the bum.

i worked at saatchi and saatchi in the 90s and he used to get into his chauffeur driven car and say nothing. when the ddriver would ask him where he wanted to go, charles would say nothing.

i have had friends in relationships and marriages with lots of dv. it took them a longgggg time to leave. no knee jerk reactions. not all relationsips with dv are as easy as "pack a bag and go"

i feel for nigella. hope she has lots of supoprt.

re. Holly's mention of the dementia issue - my own opinion is he doesn't look well in any of the pictures of him online.

Is it a dementia outburst of anger as you suggest, it could be. Or is he an alcoholic and its an alcohol-induced attack? Anyway, I think it is all very odd.

maras fortunately I don't get my arse out in public much.

They were always an odd couple - not that chalk and cheese cant be very happy.

I've never read anywhere that he's been proud of her, quite the reverse, he's subtly dissed her cooking, publically declaring he won't eat it; he's just not attended book launches and so forth. Ok I understand (with a bit of projection) he is quite possibly anti social in the extreme, and possibly >straw clutching< that he is on the spectrum.

Outsiders can always see control when the people in the relationships cannot see it.

Thank goodness for paparazzi documenting this.
Hoping Nigella will see sense and LTCunt.
And that other victims of DV who haven't LTCunt will see the pics and see that they need to get out too.

I've just read the following, Saatchi said after the story broke Sunday, he had advised Lawson to leave the couple?s London home with their children ?until the dust settled.? So, he assaulted her allegedly I suppose then told her to get out of her home with her children. Nigella, if you are a MNer, LTB for good.

thezebra - are you joking! she has plenty of money of her own, regardless of that I can see plenty of reasons she would have married him. think that's a really horrible thing to say
