Nespresso and John Lewis are unreasonable sodding bastards. Or is it me?

Bought my dad a Nespresso machine from John Lewis. The deal was it came with a £40 voucher. I lost the receipt (my mistake I know) which I'm now told he needs to redeem the voucher. I wasn't aware of this when I bought the machine.

John Lewis and Nespresso have both said tough. Your mistake, nothing we can do.

I can prove I bought the machine by my bank records but Nespresso say this isn't good enough evidence. I think this is rubbish. If I went to the small claims court I'm confident that the evidence of the bank records, the fact we have the voucher and my own evidence would be enough to establish the fact I bought the machine from John Lewis in the way I have claimed to have done.

Apparantly Nespresso have had other customers who've been in this situation. I realise there are lots of people who are prepared to pull a fast one on big businesses but I feel really disappointed in Nespresso's attitude.

Phone the Consumer Advice Line.

They will tell you if there is anything you can do.
Tell them you weren't informed of the need for the receipt at the time of purchase. They are shit hot on consumer laws.

Cello's idea is very good!

I've found nespresso customer service a bit rubbish. I had similar issues with a machine I'd bought directly from them in terms of getting my free £40 of capsules!

And I've had deliveries of my coffee not arrive and they've been very slow to then send out replacements.

MrsCampbellBlack · 15/06/2013 19:36

Oh and I just re-ordered my last order recently - if that makes sense! But half of them out of stock which they didn't flag up in the ordering process so I ended up with hardly any coffee arriving which is most annoying.

Still love it though.

Why is it someone else's fault? I do not understand this post.

JustGiveMeFiveMinutes · 15/06/2013 20:08

It's my fault. I have already said that.

you know even though you've been very rude, I will tell you how to do it.
Go to nespresso.com, register with the nespresso club.
They will email you a membership number.
Then go to the promotional offer page, enter your membership number.
Enter the serial number of your machine (its on the sticker on the drip tray)
It will ask you to upload a picture of your receipt, but there is a place to tick to say it was a gift and you don't need a receipt.
E voila! Your gift card will be in the post.
