... Because I can't find the thread, but my big pregnant bazookas are in trouble?

I used to wear a 38b, but after getting clued up a year or so ago am now much more comfy in a 36e or f (depending on style)

Now I'm 29wk pregnant. I have been wearing my usual bras so far without issue, but I sent for some non wired bras last week in my usual 36f, with plans to buy some bigger ones (g cup possibly) for the newborn weeks.

These non wired bras just don't seem to fit me in the same way. The band is straight and not riding up, but the cups don't seem to fit and the central gore at the front is an inch away from my body! My boobs meet in the middle of the bra and I hate it - they are smushed and sweaty and its not comfy.

Do non wired bras just fit differently? Is the central gore supposed to meet my chest like it would in an underwired bra? My cup size hasn't changed as I put on a 36E wired bra and it still fits perfectly, but the 36F non wired feels way too small.

Help me, MN Bra squad!!

Bravisitmo is your friend

LieweHeksie · 14/06/2013 11:25

yes. non wired bras are shit for bigish cup sizes.

"smushed and sweaty" sums it up perfectly IME :)

Splatt34 · 14/06/2013 12:06

no they don't sit on your skin in the middle, they feel different, and your shape looks different. I kept my wires til 33 weeks when they got uncomfortable.

I would strongly recommend going to a bravissimo to be fitted. They are ace

HazleNutt · 14/06/2013 12:20

yes, non wired bras just won't fit the same, you need wires for support. At that size, I would suggest rather buying your normal bras in a bigger size, and later try wired nursing bras as well. I'm perfectly comfortable at the moment in normal bras at 39 weeks.

mummymeister · 14/06/2013 12:23

I bought some breastfeeding bras and found that they were the only ones that fitted comfortably during my pregnancy. it wasn't just the size it was the width of them that caused the problems and ime the nursing bras seem to cope with this better.

ChameleonCircuit · 14/06/2013 14:12

Just so you know, the old "can't wear wires in pregnancy and during bfing" line is tosh. The wires just have to fit properly.

ooievaar · 14/06/2013 14:28

Are the non-wired ones also all-cotton? I had some truly shit nursing bras from Mothercare that had no stretch in them and the only size I could fasten around me was a 34. I'm actually more like a 28 or 30 (okay so I might have been a bit bigger when very pregnant and newly nursing, but not that much). They did nothing to support my breasts anyway so when I came to my senses I cannibalised them for the clips and converted some much nicer underwired bras in my proper size instead.

WineNot · 14/06/2013 14:44

Ooh, may I hijack (oh so slightly) your thread and ask them a question too?

They recommended a 32H for me (previously wearing a 36 DD).

It fits perfectly except it's just too tight... I've tried to get used to it but always end up taking it off early evening.

If I were to go up to a 34 band, what cup size should I try, anyone know

Hope you get sorted OP!

BelleEtLaBaby · 15/06/2013 03:49

The offending bras are mothercare padded cup maternity/nursing ones from their bigger bust range. I hate them passionately. The seam under my arm has given me a sore and my boobs are touching in the middle. I need lift and separate :)

Back to the wires it is. My regular bras fit me fine, the wires don't dig into me. I'm on quite a tight budget so could have done without spending 40 quid on crap bras, but hey ho. Might nick the clips and adapt my favourites.

Am somewhat aghast at the notion of a 36g; the cup will probably fit my head :)

Winenot If you go up a band size, go down a cup size to remain the same cup, so you would need a 34GG.
Same as me!

SuiGeneris · 15/06/2013 07:23

Try Anita nursing bras. They come wired and unwired and even the unwired ones are very well-cut even for large cups (I wore 30h while feeding and 32 f/g in late pregnancy). You can get them online from nursing -bra.co.uk (sorry, cannot link, I am on the phone).

Very good quality too. I have had a few in continuous use for 3.5 years now and they are still in v good condition.

Splatt34 · 15/06/2013 08:04

OP when I had my first pregnancy I went to M&S to be fitted as I'd read you couldn't wear wires, I left, braless in floods of tears due to the horrific contraption they were suggesting I wear. As said above Brsvissimo were ace.

BelleEtLaBaby · 16/06/2013 14:20

I've decided it doesn't fit. Not that it's supposed to fit differently. I think my boobs are still supposed to fit in the cups lol.

I've bought a couple on eBay very cheap, a 36g and a 36h. Lets see what fits! :)

34GG? Flipping heck!

I shall try it - thanks muchly!

StatisticallyChallenged · 17/06/2013 21:46

Just seen this - wires are A-OK as long as they fit. No need to surrender to the useless non-wired bras :)

NumTumDeDum · 17/06/2013 21:50

Oh crap. Why oh why did I not consult the oracle before suffering the indignity of smushed monoboob in awful awful nursing bras? I didn't even know you could get wired ones. I now have hope that I can find my waist again.
