DM is away this week, and has lent me her car. It is a Nissan Micra. EVERY time I have been out in it, I have been tailgated by a van/taxi/4x4. I don't get this in my large Citroen. I have driven the Micra in exactly the same way! If it was my own car, Id be tempted to apply the brakes!

I drive a little Peugeot 206 and people intimidate me, drive right up my arse and ALWAYS overtake.

I dont have this problem when i drive DPs Vectra

The lowest engine size I have own is a 1.8 and I have never had problem, the car the insurance sent was a 1.3 and my god the arsehole drivers came out of the woodwork.

YABU the size of your car is not an excuse for other people to bully you on the road and is dangerous, when will people wake up to the fact that a car driven badly can kill and make the person driving a killer

Although the last few times it happened to me I actually stopped the car, got out and looked at them with a glare and then drove off. Not one followed me right behind then all back right off. Seems most of these people are like regular bullies -scared when someone stands up to them.

Oh yes absolutely. I also borrowed a relations Nissan Micra some years ago, at the time I had a Peugeot 505 (8 seater estate) and the different in the attitude of other drivers was amazing.

I drive a 40+ year old Morris. The twats that pull out on me are unbelievable.
My little pleasure though is seeing their faces when I hoon it away from the lights because under her innocent looking exterior is a tuned Marina engine

I've had two Micras. I used to enjoy annoying the tailgaters with exaggerated old-lady-style driving, but now I have DS I feel very vulnerable (and obviously don't try to antagonise other driver) in my reliable, economical and planet-friendly car.

I will always remember when DM was teaching me motorway driving, and her shock and surprise that no-one was letting usin off the slip road. 'This never happens to me normally?!. (DM drives a massive VW camper)

Yep, I had a Ka a while back. I was tailgates, cut up, bullied, ignored and had the cloak of invisibility even to pedestrians.

Went back to my big ass estate.

I have a Nissan Micra, it's got a few scratches and a pirate flag, seems to keep wankers away. Although I do think that even if you're doing 60, some twat will think they HAVE to overtake you, just to be in front of a micra.

I am not intimidated though. I'm happy to pootle at my own pace. If someone's up my arse, I go VERY SLOWLY.

The pay offs happen rarely, but when it was snowing heavily and I was going slow (I COULD have gone faster, but I would have been stupid to) some dick overtook me at speed... I passed him a few minutes later, looking distraught, his audi in a ditch. I offered him help of course, because I'm a nice smug bitch like that, and was glad he wasn't hurt (and hadn't hurt anyone else) but I did have a chuckle as I crept back home carefully.

I love my Micra. If I win the lotto, I will keep my Micra (though I may pimp it somehow).

Have to say, applying the brakes is silly, you put yourself at risk too. Simply tap the brake, so as not to engage it, your brake lights will come on and the other person still shits themself. All is well.

There are some horrors on the road, I live by the if it is bigger than you show some respect, but only because the larger the vehicle the larger the blind spots and bigger the damage. I would hate to think that just for driving a smaller vehicle you are bullied on the roads. Not that I was complaining when a small car actually pulled over and let me past while I was driving our large Rodeo ute, but while I got ahead pulling over then pulling out again on a busy road would have put them at higher risk than being followed by a vehicle whose bonnet was higher than their roof.

I always used to drive a small car, but borrowed SFIL's big fuck off Audi one weekend - was amazed how differently people treated me on the road. They let me out. They got out of the way. They didn't tailgate me or cut me up.

DMIL drives a Nissan Micra. I have to say, it is a bit of an Old Lady's Car.
