Is just seems like another bit of benefit bashing to me.

I know she shouldn't have had children she couldn't afford, but what hope of improving her lot???

" the tide it turning and we will be the leaner, keener country we need to be to stand the strains of more people in the world competing with us for food and fuel."

That's a line from Logan's Run, right? Grin

Ash

I was referring to gov shifting the goal posts as to what was considered as benefit. Nothing more, nothing less. Smile

All the cap will do is put more pressure on people who are already struggling. she needs pressure on her.

her last child is only 2yo.

lets not help her make it 8.

Personal attacks? You are ignoramuses if you are ill informed...and you (and a few others are ill informed)

I want hard facts from your benefits bashing. Not nonsense.

I'm offering fact (may or may not be this woman's situation but when you're stamping all over people, at least realise there is always a bloody back story) You and your ilk are judging and sneering and thinking you are above this woman and those like her because you bloody can!

Don't worry Bonquers her children will feel your hate.

I came from a very large family and still remember parents being amazed that my parents on their small income allowed us extra activities such as sport and music.

Even now as an adult I don't even mention the size of my family as I just can't be bothered explaining it. I just accept that people are biased.

By the way my father worked up to 3 jobs - my mother worked as soon as my youngest sibling was 9. We all ended up in employment, but no if you listened to people when i was young - our parents were irresponsible and so on and so on and so on.....

The hard facts are feegle-are that the welfare state will be reformed. Is that simple enough for you? and you were the one who started trying to give this women a "back story" to try and justify yourself.

I'm on benefits. I have a flat screen TV. Does that shock you?

What about if I told you it was bought when my Ex and I were together, and he worked FT?

I'm on benefits, and my DS1 has a Wii AND a PS2 AND a DSi. Does that 'boil your piss'?

What about if I told you that the Wii was bought at a time when I was still well enough to work 60 hours a week, the PS2 was a secondhand one bought when I was working PT, and the DSi was bought BY him with his own money that he earns doing car washing?

I'm on benefits. I have Sky TV. Does that annoy you?

What about if I told you that my Ex pays for the Sky TV and the TV license as 'additional maintenance' so that his DC's don't miss out on what they had when we were still together?

I'm on benefits. I have the Internet. Does that make you really ragey?

What about if I explained that my Uncle pays the dongle bill from the money my dead Dad asked him to use to ensure that I had what I needed, so that the DC's can do their homework without a 6-mile trek to the nearest library?

Hmm

These stories are never as cut and dried as you think...

You just DON'T know what is going on behind closed doors, and HOW they have these things - but assumptions make an ass out of u and me...

itall - this women ages 34 ish had another child with her new DP.

where is her focus on her existing 6 children? she is not some desperate teenager.

yes is know their dads are no good but I think its romanticising to pretend that she is some 'great mother'.

how is she not putting her chidren first? They aren't packed like sardines, they have their own room, privacy
She didn't provide any of that for them by the sweat of her brow, morethan!! Why is she to be applauded for the kids comfortable lifestyle when the state provided the six bedroomed house they live in?

Report
Ashoething · 12/06/2013 19:02

feegle-did you miss my post when I said I don't have any ill will to this woman's kids? Of course they deserve our support and help-you cannot choose your parents.

However I don't think our support should extend to a 6 bedroom house and an income that the vast majority of working people will never attain. I am not advocating chucking this woman or her kids in a workhouse but god forbid that should get in the way of you trying to take the moral high groundHmm

Im confused by this story.

Hollyberrybush said;

Upon further reading, not included in the tot up of money is 2 lots of DLA and carers allowance

If she is in receipt of those benefits, she will not be subjected to the benefit cap.

Does she claim DLA and carers?

couthy-no one is saying its black and white-of course there are people deserving of help and we should all as a society help them. But lets not pretend that there are not people who rip the piss out of this.

Just wondered if anybody else believes that all the welfare cuts aren't going to happen? I'm really not 100% sure that UC is going to materialise.
it was set to trial in our town but was scrapped. My friend works for cs on UC system and this week heard a rumour that another town to trial in NW has been scrapped. So hope this is true, RESULT.

"and you were the one who started trying to give this women a "back story" to try and justify yourself"

Where? Have I maintained this could be an explanation OR have I said this is the explanation?

Why do I need to justify myself? Hmm Answer - I really don't!

Everything you say is simple enough Ashoe Grin
