AIBU to not give my daughter 2 biscuits?

Because she clearly thinks I am!

15 month DD, who is admittedly teething so a bit cranky, has just sobbed hysterically for ten minutes because I would not give her two biscuits.

She already had one, but wanted two. I refused, so queue hysterical sobs, guttural screams and more tears and snot then I ever thought possible for one tiny human to produce.

So, who is right, me, for not wanting my child to eat one, let alone two biscuits at 9pm, or DD because I am an obviously cruel and harsh mother for not letting each hand have a biscuit?

You are being unreasonable to expect a 15 month old to display logic, awareness of healthy eating, or delayed gratification.

NeoMaxiZoomDweebie · 11/06/2013 22:16

YANBU I wouldn't even give one biscuit at 9.00pm

PenelopePipPop · 11/06/2013 22:16

At 15m she really isn't whining because she wants unhealthy food. She was either hungry or wanted something to chew because her teeth were hurting. If you didn't want to give her biscuits could you have offered cracker or breadsticks instead (at 9pm when she is also tired I'd have just given the biscuits tbh but I'm a slacker mum than many).

christinarossetti · 11/06/2013 22:16

She's probably also sobbed hysterically because she's really tired, I would think.

I wouldn't get into giving babies or children snacks after bedtime, tbh, as they don't need it and it gives them a reason to be up.

Hope that you have a better rest of the night.

NinetiesBitch · 11/06/2013 22:17

She's teething and miserable, if you're going to give her one biscuit you might as well have given her two.

mistressploppy · 11/06/2013 22:17

What kind of biscuits?

Sirzy · 11/06/2013 22:17

I wouldn't have given any at 9pm!

But at her age she can't understand any sort of logic.

christinarossetti · 11/06/2013 22:17

Some Calpol might be of more help to her?

LalyRawr · 11/06/2013 22:19

Ah, was meant to be more lighthearted.

I know the poor thing is tired and cranky but was just a bit taken aback by her complete meltdown!

But yeah, fail on my part, wasn't meant to be taken seriously!

My DS does that too, I break a biscuit in half so he has a piece for each hand and this usually placates him. I can see your point of view, nobody wants to give their kids too much rubbish, but sometimes you have to choose your battles.

madoldbird · 11/06/2013 22:19

Why is she eating any biscuits at all at 9pm? Shouldn't she be in bed Confused

KobayashiMaru · 11/06/2013 22:19

should have broken it in half, one for each hand. Daft mammy.

PollyPlummer · 11/06/2013 22:21

Grin but then you might get the broken biscuit tantrum Wink
How is she now OP ?

madoldbird · 11/06/2013 22:21

Ah ok, x-post.

Just shove some gin in her if she's teething.

superbadspeller · 11/06/2013 22:25

Aaw ds is 19 months and has always liked a bit if food in both hands so either 2 of everything or if it's big/filling snap it in half :)

I say yabu Wink

LalyRawr · 11/06/2013 22:25

She is now fast asleep, but for how long, God only knows.

She has three back teeth coming through at the same time. Her sleeping is shot to pieces as is her routine.

She had breakfast closer to midday as she didn't goto sleep until 6 this morning. I think lunch was missed entirely as she mainly threw it on the floor/ tried to feed it to her doll and the cat and dinner was at 8.

Se probably sees this sleep now as a nap so will be awake in about an hour.

Teething is evil.
