to ask how much your 3yo weighs and how tall they are?

At the GP today DS was playing with the scales so the nurse said she may as well note his height and weight because it's been two years ages since it was updated.

He started chattering about his lunch and what he was going to have for dinner and she sort of sniffed and remarked "yes ... he looks like he's the sort who enjoys his food."

I know I'm BU to have taken a throwaway remark to heart but she then commented that he's on the 75th centile for weight but only 25th for height and I should "keep an eye on that".

He's 3.10yo, 18kg and 100cm tall.

AIBU to think that's relatively normal and not at all worrying?

Hand mini - DS1 flattened our double buggy at 3.4 weighing about 20 kg. It was a fairly decent Maclaren one

HandMini · 07/06/2013 20:27

Thanks Boat....am having horrible visions of (fairly stocky) DD1 crashing through the chassis on to (small delicate 4 month old) DD2 I suppose I just make DD1 go into the bottom seat and suck up the tantrums.

Runwayqueen · 07/06/2013 20:32

Dd is 3 next week.

She is 103cm tall, and weighs 12.7kg. Tall and skinny. I'd like to see her fill out a bit, but she eats well and is very active so I shouldn't worry really

BatCave · 07/06/2013 20:38

My almost 3 year old is a tiddler too, not sure on weight but she's about 12kg. My 8 month old is the same size as her torso-wise but has a smaller head and shorter legs!

Youcanbesneezyimnotdopey · 07/06/2013 20:42

Ds is 3.11 and is 122cm and 3stone and 10lbs. Don't know what that is in kg!

He's pretty chunky but then he's also very tall.

Youcanbesneezyimnotdopey · 07/06/2013 20:44

Argh, 23.6kg apparently. That seems a lot!

BergholtStuttleyJohnson · 07/06/2013 20:56

3yrs exactly. 102cm and around 14kgs (not sure of exact weight) he has always been tall and skinny though, just his build.

BreasticlesNTesticles · 07/06/2013 20:58

DD is 112cm and 20kgs at 3.10.

DD2 is 95cm and 13kgs at 23 months Shock

LiegeAndLief · 07/06/2013 23:39

Bloody hell youcan that's pretty much the same as my 6.10 yo and he is quite tall for his age! I don't think that's heavy considering how tall your ds is though.

Loulybelle · 07/06/2013 23:49

DD is 5 and about 3 stone, not sure how tall she is put im 5 foot 3 and shes a boob level.

MsFlippingHeck · 07/06/2013 23:50

Dd 3.8 104cm 16.5kg
She is quite solid compared with her peers

Whathaveiforgottentoday · 08/06/2013 00:10

Dd 3.7 weighs 14 kg and height is about 96 cm. definitely under100cm as she couldn't go on some rides at theme park!

eagerbeagle · 08/06/2013 00:14

DS, 4.1, 110cm, 13.5kg. He's a string bean unlike me who is definitely not

NishiNoUsagi · 08/06/2013 00:20

DS1 is 3.10, 100cm tall and 15kg. He is really slim, but has equally slim classmates at nursery so hopefully he's ok. DH & I are both slim.
DS2 is only 1.11 but already has the same sized tummy as DS2 and keeps nicking his trousers Grin

This is a good children's bmi calculator

MummytoMog · 08/06/2013 09:55

DD is 3.9, 102cm and 15 kg. DS for comparison is 2.3, 96cm and 13kg. DD doesn't look scrawny but DS is about to have a growth spurt and has his podge on. DD is noticeably a bit smaller than the rest of her nursery class (but they're all 4 and some anyway).

I expect once DS is the same age, he'll weigh quite a bit more. He's just sturdy though.

MummytoMog · 08/06/2013 09:57

DD is still fine in the Donkey and the Joovy caboose. No signs of buckling, even with both -lazy- poor walkers in it. That's 28kg of toddler I'm pushing around. No wonder I look like a brickie.

WhatALark · 08/06/2013 10:35

I'm so glad I read this thread!

We live in southern Europe and are constantly getting remarks on what a giant DS is, when people hear he's just 3.6 yrs. He looks like an absolute brick shithouse compared to his classmates, and is one of the tallest, even though he's the youngest in a mixed-aged class of 3 to 6 year olds. I've even been asked if I'm 'sure' he was born in 2009 by another mum!

He's 102 cm and 17 KG. He's just a normal Brit, isn't he? Grin

NoMine · 08/06/2013 10:41

I'm loving the range of heights, weights and sizes. Who needs charts and graphs when you have RL evidence of how wide ranging 'normal' is.

Thanks everyone :)

I've got a smaller one too, my almost 2yo is only 22lb - the same weight as my 8mo nephew :o

I love this kind of thread too NoMine as dh's family are always commenting on how small ds 1. He is not, according to the NHS that Jez linked too his body mass is on the 60th centile which is funny as in the red book he is on the 25th line Confused

Anyhow he was measured at pre school in January and he was 97cm and 14.8kg. His 4th birthday is in October.

MrsPear · 08/06/2013 10:50

Oh and his 13month cousin is 11.5 kg at 14 months ....

IneedAyoniNickname · 08/06/2013 14:14

mrspear that's because the red book will be his.weight, not his BMI.

And Grin about his 12 month cousin at 14 months!

blueberryboybait · 08/06/2013 14:30

My DD was 3 last week she is 96cm and 14kgs.

trackies · 08/06/2013 14:47

OMG MrsPear - his cousin weighs nearly as much as my v small 3.5yo !

Youcanbesneezyimnotdopey · 08/06/2013 17:38

I know liege. He's wearing age 5-6 trousers and age 6-7 tops, occasionally bigger, and his shoe size is 13.

He's going to be a giant! He has a friend who is 8 in September and he is taller than him! Although would guess the friend (also a boy) is at the smaller end of the scale.
