To have started an anti bounty revolution on the postnatal ward

I had my first encounter with a bounty lady this week. DS4 is in special care so mostly she has ignored me but yesterday she gave me a bounty pack and tried to take my soul details. I politely told her that she wasn't having any of my details because I didn't want any junk mail. She just looked at me, gobsmacked and then the lady in the next bed wouldn't give away her details either Grin. Feel quite proud that despite having major surgery 2 days before, I managed to stand up to the infamous bounty lady. I think she would have been pushier if DS4 had been with me though.

What's a bounty pack? (Assume it's not chocolate, if so I'm having a baby in the UK next time around!!)

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 06/06/2013 15:54

Aaaw, I loved the bounty freebies I got when DS was a baby not that I ever had to encounter a pushy bounty lady :)

buswanker · 06/06/2013 15:55

You are not being unreasonable and you are being amazing.
Good for you!

tootdelafruit · 06/06/2013 15:59

bounty freebies aren't really that good IMO. 1 newborn nappy- a thumbsized tub of sudocreme- oodles and oodles leaflets and booklets taht you have to flick through to find the voucher for 25p off £3.99 bottle of something. not worth it tbh.

tootdelafruit · 06/06/2013 15:59

maybe a washing powder tablet if you're lucky Grin

But how will you manage to claim child benefit?

FirstStopCafe · 06/06/2013 16:08

Well done. I planned to do this but chickened out and gave her my details. Hope your son is okay

quoteunquote · 06/06/2013 16:21

well done you.

MamaChubbyLegs · 06/06/2013 16:22

You were NOT being unreasonable. There is no place for these people around vulnerable and exhausted women. In a day room, maybe, but not waltzing into your room when you feel knackered and crap. Its a data protection nightmare.

I'm so glad you were able to stand up to her and that the lady next to you felt so too. When I have my next baby, I'm going to deface my notes with "NO BOUNTY LADIES!!" all over!

Lovelygoldboots · 06/06/2013 16:23

Good for you, those Bounty packs are utter crap. They will not leave you alone. And as for the boaky crap that is Emmas fucking diary. I have had three versions of that shit.

Fairydogmother · 06/06/2013 16:29

YANBU!

I cannot wait to tell the bounty woman to do one! I also don't understand that Emma's diary either - v odd

MamaChubbyLegs · 06/06/2013 18:15

UGH Emma's diary! I'd forgotten about that sickly wank. Emma was sick making, but at least she didn't patrol the wards pressurisng people to accept crap.

"Flump". UGH.

Bounty Person
" but you need this to claim CB"
" no I don't"
"yes, you do!"
"no I don't" (getting testy)
" oh, do you won't be claiming it then?" (sneery)
"No, I work in a Jobcentre. My pack is at home"
"The Jobcentre? Oh good, maybe you can help, my DD ......"
Bitch never even missed a beat and I ended up giving her ages worth of good advice on her DD situ.
I am normally hard as nails but was utterly outplayed by the Bounty Lady Grin

KareninsGirl · 06/06/2013 18:29

Is Emma's Diary still doing the rounds?! She was pregnant when I had DS (17)!

incredulous

Tiredemma · 06/06/2013 18:30

I recently found out that I was 24 weeks pregnant (COMPLETE SURPRISE)- my youngest DC is 10. I was utterly crestfallen when the midwife handed me a copy of 'Emmas Diary' at my booking in apt.

I couldn't believe that shit was still being wheeled out.

SixPackWellies · 06/06/2013 18:36

Oh I had forgotten about Emma's diary too.

My last Dc (now 3) they had Emma breastfeeding, and one of the reasons why was it got your figure back into shape after birth. And a pic of Emma's husband doing a daydream of her previous sexy figure.

Someone tell me I am not imagining this....as that is how I recall it.

Notsoblonde · 06/06/2013 18:37

We don't get them in Scotland anymore, well not when I had the dc.

failingatlife · 06/06/2013 18:37

Funnily enough on Scotland Tonight earlier this week there was an article about this! An MSP was saying the NHS is allowing Bounty to exploit new mothers by giving out the packs. I see no problem with it, accepted mine happily & had pregnant mums queueing up for theirs when I worked in Boots.

However when I had my kids 10 & almost 8yrs ago they were just handed out to the patients, we certainly weren't asked for our details, wouldn't have been happy about that. YANBU as she sounded very pushy!

SplitHeadGirl · 06/06/2013 18:41

I have to say that the Bounty lady in the hospital where I had my three (the latest just 4 weeks ago) is absolutely LOVELY!!! She came to see me before I went home just to say bye, and she really helped me after a difficult birth. I don't bother with the packs really (nothing much in them) but the lady was very nice indeed and I liked chatting with her.

Lovelygoldboots · 06/06/2013 18:44

Emma goes shopping for maternity clothes, she loves to shop! Emma completely relieved that she would not have to have an amnio. Emma decides not to go back to work as her husband wants her to be a sahmummy.

juniper9 · 06/06/2013 18:48

Can't you just give fake details Hmm

I possibly might have done this maybe.

JugglingFromHereToThere · 06/06/2013 18:54

Oh, well done you !
And congratulations on your new arrival Thanks

Summerblaze · 06/06/2013 19:01

Not sure I understand the problems with Bounty lady.
