WIBU to sell my husband on Ebay?

He came into the kitchen this morning and announced that he had unloaded 'my' dishwasher for 'me' last night so, obviously, he has to go.

How would one go about wording this? I'm thinking that he'd be best described as 'pre-owned, with defects'. He is well-loved and showing light signs of wear but is otherwise in good working order. Or perhaps I'd get more for him if I listed him as 'vintage'? He was issued in 1974 though, so that might be pushing it a bit. He has an annoyingly small appetite and a distaste for buying things, which makes him fairly cost-effective but do you think that might frighten off potential bidders? Bit of a delicate matter so I'd appreciate any ideas, particularly from any MN wordsmiths/Ebay experts. Also, if anyone is interested in bidding on him you can pm me for more details and exact measurements (serious enquiries only, please).

i think you will have to pay to get rid of the prat

Sell the actual dishwasher, you'd get more for it. Then you can sit and watch your husband wash 'your' dishes in 'your' kitchen.

Maybe you could compost him and then at least he could be useful, especially if you grow your own vegGrin

My only question is in which section? Baby? Pets?

MrsRambo · 04/06/2013 20:13

I find bundles and job lots sell well on eBay. Bundles of toys, clothes etc

Could you round up some more useless men and create a 'bundle' of them to sell? BILs? FILs? Dumb male colleagues/bosses? Maybe even put a call out on MN for them? You can add my DP to the bundle Grin

Pick up only.

Oh my. I can only imagine the backlash if a man had suggested selling his wife in this manner.

Sell the dishwasher HoHo, surely you jest?

Keep the dishwasher but fill it only with things used by you to cook for you. Husband gets bread & cheese on a paper plate. There's no point investing in his nutrition when you're going to sell him anyway.

I think trading him in for a newer model is the way to go. One careful lady owner; full service history

Upgrade his memory chip and CPU. Get him reprogrammed and upgraded to the latest version of Husband, probably 1.1. You should be OK after that.
Otherwise find outrageous ways of referring to things like "his" car or "his" pc/tablet/iPhone/washing/dirty dishes?

EllaFitzgerald · 04/06/2013 20:29

I'll swap him for mine. He has no idea where the dishwasher is located, but he does put the bins out each week.

CorrieDale · 04/06/2013 20:29

Reading bits to my husband. Only one if us is laughing....

Jestrin · 04/06/2013 20:47

Put him in the classifieds as 'taxidermy project' Grin
