to go on the rides at Disney land Paris?

I love theme park rides but am scared to death of getting to the front of the que then being embarrassed by not being able to go on them. I'm a size 18-20 but that's in generous shops like monsoon.

Sorry for posting this in AIBU but I want as many views as possible! hmmm maybe i should have name changed for this!

A few rides at some of the UK parks (Thorpe Park, Chessington) have torso restrictions of 51" or 52". Otherwise the rigid harness thing won't close safely. You need to measure around the widest part of your bust.

For Disneyland Paris, I'm sure it must say on a website somewhere. I'm a size 18-20 and have been twice and safely fitted on every ride I tried.

ive done disneyland paris at a size 22 and had no problem at all

HormonalHousewife · 04/06/2013 22:02

I got stuck in the log flume at Gullivers world a few years ago.

I just went round twice... laughing Grin

I was about 7 months pregnant at the time !

I've not been to Disney Paris but I assume most of the rides are for kids? They are unlikely to have restrictive OTSR (over the shoulder restraints as usual on high speed coasters) more likely to be lap bars which are a little more forgiving!

At Alton Towers they have a "test seat" at the entrance to the queue so you can check if you fit, maybe Disney would have the same for any ride with a restrictive restraint? I would hazard a guess at maximum of a size 22/24 and you would be OK at A Towers on the big coasters (squashed boobs maybe to get the restraint to click in), so I would think for kids rides at Disney you'd be fine (awaits flaming for assuming Disney is full of baby rides Grin)

With lap bar restraints you are more likely to be restricted by your height than your weight (although from experience it's not the easiest squeezing two adults in one train carriage on a kids ride . . . I'm looking at you, Blackpool Pleasure Beach zipper dipper!!)

No, you're not too fat. I'm fatter than you by a couple of dress sizes (and heavier by about a stone, I'd guess, though haven't weighed myself in the last few years) and I fitted in the rides OK - didn't go on one ride because it was closed both times I went, but I don't imagine they'd have just one ride of a different size.

Go and enjoy yourself!

ThreeBeeOneGee · 04/06/2013 22:28

OTSR! That's what I meant! Sounds much more knowledgeable than "rigid harness thing".

marriedinwhiteagain · 04/06/2013 22:31

You'll be fine at Disney. Youu need to be fine With you though. I'm 5'6"and 11st nowadays. I could do with losing a stone but I am a recovered anorexic and thank my blessings every day.

Loolah · 04/06/2013 22:44

Not too big at all I've been to DLP twice and was 26/28 when I went prob weighing about 20st + I'm 5.7 and managed to fit on all the rides I went on with no problems.

AllegraLilac · 04/06/2013 23:49

I had my size 22 mum on loads of stuff at Disney. You'll be fine.

DoubleLifeIsALifeHalved · 05/06/2013 03:58

Re airplane seats, you'll be fine but a bit snug. I am a size 20 and carry it around hips & waist. No problem with the belts, but do notice my flab does go under the arm rest and might just touch the person sitting next to me.

Btw I just want to pick up on a comment earlier - the person that said they saw a number of kids in wheelchairs who were too obese to walk more than a few steps. That may be the case, but you cannot assume that. It's much more likely that someone who is wheelchair bound is fat because of not being able to move around. am disabled and it's deeply upsetting when people assume I'm just fat. It makes me not want to go out, really really unkind, its a kind of victom blaming actually (though im sure you disnt mean it like that at all)... though I'm sure people don't think about it.

MrsTerryPratchett · 05/06/2013 04:46

I was chunky when I went to Disneyland Paris 15 years ago. No problems at all.

ICanTotallyDance · 05/06/2013 06:13

You will probably be fine. A few attractions have a weight limit of 110kg but these are very much in the minority and are the more adventurous activities such as tree climbing. The website should have information and you can always email with measurements and ask.

TheUnicornsGoHawaiian · 05/06/2013 06:33

You will be fine. Im a size 18 to 20 and weigh about the same as you and we've just come back from dlp. I googled before I went and read that the rides are designed to lift a lot of weight, it's more fitting in thats the issue. The rides seemed ok to me, maybe a bit snug on some but I carry my weight on my belly so it just got squashed down. Grin You'll be fine, please don't worry.

lunar1 · 12/06/2013 11:24

Will I be ok at a size 22? I am 5 ft and 15 stone and because I'm short I am fatter if that makes sense. Chest size 49 inches. Largest part of waist 50 inches. Big bum. I have contacted them but they were non committal.
