Good bra campaign - WasIU to pop in a lingerie shop to try their B only bikini tops, even though I knew they wouldn't fit me?

I am a 30E ATM and obviously find it hard to find a good fit in bras, let alone bikinis.

So, whilst shopping yesterday I decided to see what this shop had on offer.
All Bs in different back sizes.
As they were tie ups, I thought I'd give it a go just to see what would happen.

32 - nipples were showing Blush
34 - better, but lots of boob overflowing
36 and 38 - better fits, but the cups were almost at the back and shoulder straps almost joined at the back.

Meanwhile, it kept the shop assistant going back and forth, probably thinking I was nuts (or deluded Grin).

At the end she made the remark that they should fit as the backs were adjustable.
To which I pointed out that it didn't really work like that and that it could have worked if they at least carried some Cs and Ds.

Now considering entering all shops in the hope that it reaches management/factory somehow.

And I liked the colours and shapes too Sad

Some (italian) lingerie brands only do B-cups and their sizing charts simply advise you to go up a back size until the cup fits. On what planet does that make sense, I have no idea..

Oh and YANBU, I sometimes randomly walk into shops and ask for my size, just to see the reaction. Usually I'm told that there is no such thing as a G-cup..

Why would it be U for you to try on some B cups? When it comes to swimwear I don't even look at the size on the tag, I just eye up the size then try them on.
My stepdaughter is a 32E and I always tell her that as long as the cup fits and supports that I can adjust the straps and back by sewing (I'm nifty!) I then usually get her a cheapy supermarket pair of bikini bottoms to go with the top. Swimwear makers seem to be way behind the times.

Hazzle, it was an italian brand (I think) - Calzedonia. grr

Also very annoyed with Intimissimi for advertising that we (women) can find our size there. As if!

Honey, it works if you don't need support.

Sadly, mine are very heavy are saggy and I need support to look any good.

debenhams had bigger cup sizes in bikinis - I bought some online to try on and when I took the excess ones back to the store (had bought a range of F, FF and G cups) they had a good variety of them instore too.

I'm a 30E I have come to the conclusion that buying anywhere other than Bravissimo is false economy. Not just bras, but bikinis too.

towicymru · 03/06/2013 16:52

Next have some bigger cup sized bikinis which are reasonably priced. Not sure how supportive though but worth a try?

HoneyStepMummy · 03/06/2013 16:57

Lweji, you are absolutely right! The adjustments still work for a 16 year old, but once gravity takes over it'll be a different matter.
Sadly my DsD can't wear any of the styles she would like, including a monokini. It's a case of just trying to work with what we can find, or getting her a sporty one-piece which she wouldn't be seen dead in.

I went into the Intimissimi shop in Capri and bought a bra. They didn't measure me or ask my size, just looked at me, handed over a bra and it happened to fit magnificently. I'll be buggered if I'm going all the way to Italy to find a bra that fits though!
