How devastating his views could be, when he is a man synonymous with understanding and solving crime, cannot be underestimated. He could put work done on changing views about sex crimes right back. People see a man they trust to tell them the truth about crime coming out with this shit and they think he must be right.
I saw him This Morning (for my sins) try to justify his foul rape apologism, and he just couldn't. I would've felt sorry for him, if he wasn't a misogynist pig who'd got it totally wrong. It says something when Eamonn Holmes, not known for being a paragon of Feminist values, came across as Millie Tant in comparison, when tackling him.
This latest thing is even worse. I can't imagine thinking "oh yeah, I'll have a quick look" if someone offered to show me some images of child abuse, even in some totally legitimate scenario. As part of my academic research, I could've got legal access to viewing snuff films or gonzo porn (please don't Google if you don't know these terms, trust me), but I couldn't bring myself to, and chose to take my research down a different route, because I know that someone was abused, hurt or killed for these things and I refuse to collude with that.
Too many people, who have no interest in the stuff themselves, still minimise images of child abuse (and indeed 'normal' porn, as there is a lot of force, abuse, etc.,involved in much of it) as 'they're just pictures'. Well, no, real children were hideously abused to make them. They're not bloody pencil drawings, FFS.
I had a friend (sadly died) whose father made abuse films of her. How did I find this out? Because once we were in London, and a man came up to her, saying he knew her. She denied it, and suddenly a light went on behind his eyes, and a twisted, malevolent sneer came on his face, and he made it clear how he knew her. From the films (she had a very distinctive face, being an uncommon duel heritage mix). I got her away from the pervert and she told me about it. I can never forget her words: "It's like I'm still being abused, every day". She was 35 and the films and images of her from more than 20 years before were still in circulation.
I do not call that 'a fuss'.
As for the racial stuff, it's so ridiculous and wrong that I don't know where to start.
