AIBU to think that after my daughter had 'real hair' hair extensions put in at a cos of £200 that they should have lasted more than 1 month?? they are falling out daily Shock this was her usual hairdresser (fully qualified) and the clip in type of extensions and we have 'looked after them very well. This is the first time she's had them.

JeeanieYuss · 03/06/2013 01:51

Plus £200 for extensions is cheap really... Well not cheap but the lower end of price scale.

Never heard of permanent clip-ins, usually they are either glued or sewn in. Maybe it's the method? Agree with the posters who said £200 is cheap, around here you can pay up to £500!

plannedshock · 03/06/2013 05:00

Do they have little metal bits at the root? Like a piece of metal thats squeezed round the hair with pliers? Not clip in like a snap clip. Are you sure the qualified hairdresser hasn't just done an extension course? £200 is cheap if they are real hair. She would definately lose some, always happens, but if its noticeable she should go back and have more put in-no charge!

SybilRamkin · 03/06/2013 10:57

These sound like micro-ring extensions. They're cheaper than bonded extensions and some say less likely to damage your hair, but they are also more likely to fall out early.

I suspect that the rings have loosened over time, (perhaps due to over-zealous brushing?). If you return to your hairdresser and explain the problem she should tighten them for free.

ArtemisiaofCaria · 03/06/2013 11:40

Is she using a hairbrush or wide toothed comb?

AllegraLilac · 03/06/2013 13:41

Its excessive styling. Rings just are not up to that.

Excessive stylers need more permanent bonding or clip ins for ease and longevity.

I've been wearing extensions for 7 years, and you have to adapt your styling methods to the extension. Just a bouncy, natural blowdry is all I ever with rings. Heat styling is more suited to glues and clip ins.

How does one sell one's hair for extensions?

ScarletLady02 · 03/06/2013 14:14

I would say micro-rings as well. £200 is not loads for real hair. The hair itself is damn expensive, let alone the hours spent putting them in.
