Would I have been unreasonable to have them towed?

The same car constantly parks across my drive and blocks me out. I'm forever having to park streets away (parking is awful round here which is why we bought a house with a drive way) and drag myself, DD and shopping back with me.

I rang 101 today and they very kindly offered to come and tow the car away. I'm not sure which neighbour the car belongs to but it must be a neighbour as they park there so often, so I said no as I don't want to start causing problems with the neighbours.

But the car is still there and it's making me cross every time I have to look at it out of the kitchen window.

So wibu to have them towed next time they park there?

I thought that they could only tow if you were blocked in.

But if there's a garage-surely the drive should always be left free?

Grin @ getting the cat towed
What did the note say? Is car still there?

quoteunquote · 02/06/2013 19:33

My neighbour relies on being able to get her car right up her driveway, she is quite disabled, so would not be able to go home if someone blocked her driveway, so I doubt it is "legal" to block a drive.

I also have to park some of my works vehicles on my "drive/land over night for the insurance to be valid, but I have tractors(works), so if someone was silly enough to block my entrance, they wouldn't be there long.

The note basically said

'Sorry to leave a note, would rather how spoke face to face. We understand parking round here can be a struggle but you are blocking access to our drive. We have spoken to the police and they have advised we can have your car towed. We don't want to do something that dramatic if we don't have to so please don't park here again'.

And yes the car is still there!

Grin at a car being towed. DD seems to have befriended all the local cats, I think she'd miss them if I had them towed.

You're nicer than me. I'd have had them towed for sure.

Have they actually read the note though? If the car is still there but the note is gone then they probably don't give a shit, so have their car towed next time?

thestringcheesemassacre · 02/06/2013 20:38

Tow the car. Honestly. I would.
You own the driveway, I wouldn't hesitate.

ArgumentativeAardvark · 02/06/2013 21:25

The car and the note are still there. The car will be there until the morning I expect.

You have been given wrong advice on 101. Cars can only be towed if causing an obstruction. Being unable to get in is not classed as obstruction, being unable to get out is.
