to ask, if you live in Windsor, does Legoland drive you mad?

Have attempted to go to legoland twice this week. First time queued in traffic for an hour and half to be turned away. Yesterday queued for 45 mins just to get down the off ramp from the m4 before giving up. How in heavens name do you cope if you actually live there and need to go from a to b?

I went August last year, on a lovely sunny day an it didn't seem packed to me.

oh poor children being turned away, we go every year and its never been the case, ds would be heartbroken. am worried now as planning to go in august, maybe we should book ,was hoping to use a child free ticket on the gate.

Debs my kids also enjoyed it well enough, to be fair to Legoland.

Personally I wouldn't go again thats all.

Pleasesleep · 02/06/2013 08:54

Debs: we went Tuesday too. The reason it was queue free was because it was pissing it down! I also didn't think it was queue free... 75 mins for laser raiders?!

Anthracite · 02/06/2013 08:56

Friday's traffic queues getting off the M4 were due to the M25 being at a standstill.

Windsorian waving back!

This year does seem worse for LL traffic - I think it's because we've such such bad weather that everyone is desperate to get out of the house on the first sunny, warm day we have!

Sianilaa · 02/06/2013 13:55

It's been especially bad this week for some reason. We're in Ascot and the roads between there and LL have been completely jammed.

Always empty when it rains though! We go after school some days and stay for tea - kids eat for £1 or free after 3pm I think. Lazy mum!

We used to have LL annual passes when the DCs were little. The best time to go was when the weather was bad as the fair weather people stayed at home. When it is quiet, you can get around all the rides in under an hour, so are maybe in the park for about two hours before getting dragged down by the cold or wet.

I always found it better to go via the Winkworth/Ascot side, rather than Windsor. The signposted Windsor route is not the best either. It is much better to drive down Bolton Road and St Leonard's Road. Obviously it depends where you are starting from.

Now that the DCs are older, they are more into Thorpe Park. I went with two of them at the start of the Easter holiday when it was 1 degC. We were there for four hours (including an hour for lunch) and did all the rides we wanted to. We walked onto every ride, including the new one, Swarm. It worked out at £7 per person per hour - maybe £3 per ride. You can't get that at a travelling funfair.

Yy follow the signs which say

'Legoland - alternative route (longer but quicker)'

Anthracite · 02/06/2013 21:10

Yes, to go along St Leonard's Road. The funny thing is that it is much more direct than driving up to Imperial Road (or seems to).

We went this weekend, journey both ways was an absolute nightmare. Should hav. E been about 50mins was 2.5 hrs.

Ds2 screamed on the way there and we were at a standstill in traffic. Same on way home today but there had been an accident.

That said, dd2 loved it. It was absolutely packed and massive queues for rides. Dd had an exit pass so she managed to go on quite a lot and really enjoyed herself. The only problem we had was a miserable woman doing a 'survey' who was extremely rude when I said I couldn't do it!! I couldn't believe how angry she got !
