To believe a quick 'how is ds' call wouldn't go amiss

One of my twin sons (5 - just) has been going to a street dance class at a local dance studio for a few months.

4 weeks ago whilst there he did a dance move, fell and landed on his hand... I saw this as the last 5 minutes of the class is a little individual freestyle from each boys that attend arranged by the instructor.

I could tell immediately he had hurt himself so took him to A&E on the way home. He had sustained a fracture at the base of his thumb.

I phoned the studio to let them know and that he wouldn't be attending for around 6 weeks.

Now... if it was my studio I would be phoning mum to enquire about the well being of a student that had sustained an injury whilst in one of my classes.

Ds fracture is healing fine as it happens, but AIBU to expect a call.

YANBU - I have phoned to check on the well being of one of my Rainbows who fell after being picked up, on the way back to the car! Not during the time they were with me thankfully!

I have also phoned to check on pupils who have been in accidents etc, and my DDs school phoned me when DD was in hospital.

Only thing I can think of is that they fear "concern" somehow being mistaken for "guilt" and you trying to sue them?? Were you offered any first aid on scene?

YABU - you called and let them know what happened and that he would be back I about six weeks. Why should they not assume that he is helping as expected. What would the purpose of the call be, other than to make YOU feel better.

YABU. It's a fractured thumb, and they have been told your ds will be back in six weeks.

Do you actually have anything to say to them if they asked other than that it's still healing fine? Do thumb fractures often decide to heal badly?

YANBU, DS was injured while waiting for his lunch in school and I had to go and pick him up. As it turned out he was an innocent bystander for once and got a nasty bang to the head for his troubles. His HOY phoned me in the evening to ask how he was and to promise me that 'action would be taken' to prevent this happening to one of 'her' students again... She scared me half to sodding death tbh but it was comforting to know that they were concerned and aware of the situation.
