To wonder why some wear sunglasses inside..

Just that, away with work went to breakfast this morning, there's no sun and in walked a guest wearing sunnies, maybe this is a trend I just don't get. Oh and also unless you're outside and it's sunny or too bright to go without them I find people talking to you from behind their shades rude.

My sunglasses have prescription lenses in them. I went out last week in my sunglasses and forgot my proper glasses, I had the option of wearing the sunglasses inside or not wearing them and not being able to see where I was going

LineRunner · 31/05/2013 11:05

Tbf, there are some medical treatments make people's eyes sensitive to sunlight.

I had to wear them weekly when I had PUVA (uv) treatment for psoriasis many years ago, and I did get a bit fed up of people asking me why I was wearing sunglasses and making lame jokes about hangovers. Felt quite embarrassed actually that they were assuming I was a vain twat.

And then when the treatment started working I went this amazing nut brown colour, so started looking like I was living in some kind of Club Tropicana fantasy. Grin

I'm inside and I'm wearing sunglasses right now. I'm sitting by the patio doors and its easier to see my iPad while I MN with sunglasses on. I also wear sunglasses inside when I'm chopping onions.

I disagree that it's rude to wear sunglasses unless its really sunny, it's personal preference and sometimes it's more comfortable. I'm not prepared to be even a little bit less comfortable than I could be because someone else is uptight.

Some people wear sunglasses when it's not sunny outside to help with hayfever symptoms.

arethereanyleftatall · 31/05/2013 11:07

YABU. Im exactly the same as nancy 75. Forget glasses and either wear prescription sunnies inside or not see. Also, my eyes are sensitive and it's more comfortable outside with them on even if it looks gloomy to others. Don't judge people OP when you have no idea why they are doing what they are.

I have prescription sunglasses so if Im popping into a shop and Ive forgotten my glasses I keep them on so I can see Hmm

Yes to helping hayfever/eye problems etc

VenusUprising · 31/05/2013 11:09

I wear my glasses in sunshine and also inside, until my eyes have adjusted to the light change.
I wear them also to stop my eyes getting full of pollen.
My DH has prescription glasses.

You may not be aware of people's eye problems, sometimes medical problems are not obvious.

Maybe cut people some slack?! [8)]

WilsonFrickett · 31/05/2013 11:10

I never even thought about wearing my glasses more to cut down on pollen.

Manchesterhistorygirl · 31/05/2013 11:11

You are being unreasonable. Another prescription wearer here and I cannot be faced changing eyewear all the time.

VenusUprising · 31/05/2013 11:11

Linerunner LOL

Did the psoriasis treatment work well?
My DH is bad with it at the moment, and no chance of sunshine here....
Did you get a lamp?

Lioninthesun · 31/05/2013 11:12

I have lenses in my sunnies and so don't bother swapping them over if in a shop for eg.

Pascha · 31/05/2013 11:13

I don't always have a spare hand to swap glasses, if I'm inside for less than 10 minutes then the sunnies stay on. I don't take them off when talking to people because they would all become a fuzzy blur if I did.

VenusUprising · 31/05/2013 11:14

Wilsonfricket, it's amazing how it works. Get big ones that look more like insects eyes, and fit snugly round your face. Use antihistamine eye drops too if needed.

Also use aloe vera Vaseline up your nostrils to block out pollen there. Ordinary Vaseline is too bokesome, aloe Vera smells nice!

BabyDubsEverywhere · 31/05/2013 11:19

I wear mine inside and out all summer to help with hay fever.. not sure it does help though, but I daren't take them off just in case!
I also wear them when hungover... I may well just glue them to my face tbh!

WilsonFrickett · 31/05/2013 11:22

Ta Venus We've recently moved to the country (kinda) and am surrounded by rape fields. Really suffering this year, much more than I did in the city. Thanks

MaxPepsi · 31/05/2013 11:26

I wear normal glasses.

However if i'm wearing my contacts, even in winter, I always have my sunglasses handy. My lenses have UV protection built in and my contacts don't. My eyes sometimes take time to adjust.

I too had PUVA treatment , it was bloody awful and hope I never need it again but think I had extreme reactions

HighInterestRat · 31/05/2013 11:30

Yes, mine are prescription too so I tend to wear them everywhere. My regular glasses are broken and I can't seem to arrange a child and work free day to go to the opticians at the moment. Absolute pain in the neck as I need them to drive so can't go out in the car after dark at the moment. Grin

BeCool · 31/05/2013 11:33

My eyes are quite light sensitive - if I am wearing contact lenses I could wear light sunnies anywhere.

icklemssunshine1 · 31/05/2013 11:46

My mum is registered blind although has limited vision - she can see outlines if the room is dark enough thus needs dark lenses. She's isn't vain it's a necessity.

YABU.

livinginwonderland · 31/05/2013 11:50

YABU. Mine are prescription and I can't be arsed to change them just to pop into a shop for 5 minutes to buy some lunch, sorry.

valiumredhead · 31/05/2013 11:55

Mine are prescription plus I have hay fever so I keep them on. I drive with them on as I always find the world a bit bright!Grin

RubberBullets · 31/05/2013 11:55

I wear reactions and they take a while to change from sunglasses to clear. At my old job I could get to my desk and they would still be dark.

WestieMamma · 31/05/2013 12:03

My husband does this. He has AS and is hyper-sensitive to light.

freddiefrog · 31/05/2013 12:03

I'm suffering with horrendous hay fever at the moment. Sunglasses help massively - they're the only thing stopping me scratching my eyes out right now and I'm indoors

WestieMamma · 31/05/2013 12:05

Really Freddie? My husband has always said the same but I've not believed him Blush
