to think my 21-month old is doing it on purpose

Well, not really but...

DD1 (nearly 6) has a day off school tomorrow. DD1 (21 months) is due to be in crèche. I usually study on a Friday but I was going to take the day off and have a day out with DD1. Movie, lunch and a trip to the beach.

And now DD1 has been getting sick everywhere, so no crèche tomorrow.

Bad enough, except DD1 really needs a bit of one-on-one time with me, and this is the third time it has happened Hmm . I swear DD2 is doing it on purpose... Wink

Oh dear...Im sure it feels like it. Bloody typical eh? Any chance you can postpone it for next week?

vvviola · 30/05/2013 13:41

Not without taking DD1 out of school. And I don't think it quite merits that.

Next opportunity will be middle of July when her school term ends (we're in NZ). What are the chances another illness will crop up?

I'm dreading telling DD1 in the morning. Confused

I'm so sorry - the timing sucks. But I don't think a 21m old knows enough to fake illness or do it on purpose.

Could your DP help out by looking after dd2 one day at the weekend so you can have a nice day with just dd1?

Hope it all works out.

Oh 3Caramel I don't really think she's doing it on purpose, it just feels that way.

DH is already looking after DD2 at the weekend so that DD1 & I can go somewhere with MIL & a bunch of the in laws. It will be a treat for DD1, but I really felt she needed some one-on-one time with me. She dissolved into tears this morning because I left for uni (taking DD2 to creche on the way) before she left for school with DH. Confused

Not much that can be done about it though - except try to dredge the depths of my brain for fun things to do inside in the presence of a grumpy sick toddler Wink

Bless her. Could u take her out for dinner tomorrow while dh looks after dd2, perhaps get dh to put dd2 to bed and have a girlie night when u get home. Do nails, read stories?

MIL is staying for the weekend - from Saturday morning until Monday morning, so it just won't be possible to do anything that doesn't involve her. It will just have to be put off for another time.

Typically DD2 appears right as rain this morning and is getting into all sort of mischief. DD1 has started moping. It will be a long day.

A little update: if indeed the little minx was putting it on (I know it isn't possible) it wasn't for sibling rivalry purposes. DDs have played beautifully together all morning. And I've been rejected from helping a number of times with "no. Sister do"

DD1 is quite disappointed still but is loving the hero worship.

I'm getting quite teary watching them play together Blush
