To think it's highly unlikely foriners were trying to steal her baby

A "friend" just sent me a warning from someone in our town that 2 "asian or Turkish" men were eyeing her baby in the street before they told them to f off where they came from and they left. They were "foriners" (I know but that's how she spelt it) and clearly looking to steal her baby.

IABU to think this is bollocks? Its the new "gypsys steal babies" isn't it? Hmm.

I'm so ridiculously sick of people accepting casual racism starting to feel so worn down by it.

Oh heck! Should I be worried about the white-haired little old dears who come up to me and tickle the babies under their chin, peer in the pushchair, comment on how gorgeous dd2's curls are, how like their own (much missed) grandchildren they are/were. I'm sure they want to steal my babies away too...

OctopusPete8 · 29/05/2013 11:37

Some people are batshit haha,
Also quite depressing,
This reminds of Charlie Brooker ripping the piss out off the racism after the boston bombings, people were circling photo's of 'suspects' crudely in paint, with 1. alone, 2.brown underneath, no joke.

Maybe the spin off to alone&brown. com could be 'looking at my babbeh'' .com

MrsReiver · 29/05/2013 11:39

Three women working in the Tesco bakery stopped working to come and speak to 3 month old DS today. Should I be worried they were Hansel & Gretel style witches who wanted to bake him in their oven? I mean it's just as likely............

BookieMonster · 29/05/2013 11:48

This is depressing. It's right up there with the "Every man who likes kids or wants to work with children is a peedo (sic)."
I'm a compulsive chatter to small kids and babies in the supermarket but people are getting so hysterical we won't even be able to make eye contact with another human soon.

GoodbyePorkPie · 29/05/2013 11:48

Any non whites should keep their eyes to the ground at all times. It's not fair that we live in fear of someone looking at and then stealing our babies.

VivaLeBeaver · 29/05/2013 11:53

Yanbu. Depressing. In many cultures like Turkey everyone loves babies, even random blokes.

Was in Ikea yesterday and a bloke grabbed hold of dd by the hand and started walking off with her. He wasn't forrin though, and after about three seconds he realised he'd grabbed my kid and not his own. He was very apologetic. Dd is 12 and was Hmm

ReluctantBeing · 29/05/2013 12:04

I saw a Facebook post yesterday claiming a man had tried to steal a child from a swing in a local park. I don't believe it for a minute.

mrsjay · 29/05/2013 12:05

He was very apologetic. Dd is 12 and was

oh dear Grin I have done that many moons ago grabbed the wrong child and said lets go Blush the mum was very good about it

CuppaSarah · 29/05/2013 12:07

Middle Easterns absolutly love babies and children! My DP grew up in Saudi and he couldn't walk down the street without shop people giving him things. They probably just wanted to admire her baby. It's sad we can't have such a child centered culture.

Flobbadobs · 29/05/2013 12:26

Apparently there have been 2 'Asian' men in a white van lingering near our local play park for about 10 years...
Unutterable bollocks and highly insulting. It gets shouted down very loudly whenever it crops up on FB, usually in the local group that I've just left because of the unbelievable racism spouted on there regularly.
It's almost funny how the more racist elements of society are usually the most illiterate!

Oldraver · 29/05/2013 13:43

Oh she mustn't come and live where we do The new Polish Refuse men fell over themselves to shake hands and talk to DS a few years ago when he was in his 'I love dustcarts' stage

thegreylady · 29/05/2013 13:46

For the record Turkish people [both genders] tend to love babies and small children-not to steal or to eat but simply as wonderful little people worthy of notice.

grumpyinthemorning · 29/05/2013 14:02

Completely daft. There's a bloke who drinks at my local who gave DS a pound coin when he was tiny "for good luck". Apparently it's a tradition where he's from. I popped it in DS' savings account Smile. Almost nobody can help smiling at small children, they bring out the best in us all.

AlexReidsLonelyBraincell · 29/05/2013 17:13

Our local coffee shop is bursting with the forriners and they sit and drink coffee and smoke. And they talk to my children Shock.
One even gave dc1 his little biscotti from his coffee once, I bet it was laced with sleeping medication so he could abduct her, and come to think of it, she was very sleepy later on that day!!!

Thanks to Facebook I know what they're up to, I may have just thought they were friendly or something before. it's good to be informed.

Scary.

mrsjay · 29/05/2013 17:17

grumpy years ago it was a tradition to put a penny in a babies pram I dont think people dare do it anymore, dd1 made 50 quid and I bought clothes with it, dd2 was born 5 years later and got about 20 so I think it had started to fade out,

mrsjay · 29/05/2013 17:17

I bought her clothes I didnt buy myself a new outfit with her money Grin

Buzzardbird · 30/05/2013 00:05

We believe you MrsJ Wink

minouminou · 30/05/2013 00:15

Some weird-looking, rather olive, possibly Middle Eastern looking bird bent down to my DD yesterday, before hoiking her up over her shoulders and then biting her bum.

I've caught the sun and look even dodgier than usual.....should I turn myself in?

SarahAndFuck · 30/05/2013 00:23

Oh, so, the lovely Turkish family who run our favourite cafe and always make a big fuss of DS are actually planning to steal him?

That's what the four years of free puddings, drinks or lollipops for him have been about? That's why one of the middle sons always spends time with us saying how children bring good luck to the cafe and why the mother and two daughters like to give him a kiss or tickle his cheek. Not because they are genuinely nice people who like children, but because they are plotting to steal him away.

It will also explain why the man who owns the local convenience store always gives DS a couple of free sweets from the penny mix counter as well.

And why the Nepalese family on the next street always smile and say hello when we pass their garden and why they like to shake DS's hand.

They are all planning to kidnap him Hmm

minouminou · 30/05/2013 00:27

Tot it all up, Sarah....it might actually be a decent price for him.......

SarahAndFuck · 30/05/2013 00:29

Ah yes, perhaps they are paying us off in advance with pudding.

If they throw in their lasagne recipe it might be worth it. They make the best lasagne I have ever eaten Grin

rabbitlady · 30/05/2013 00:36

chris. the name of the woman whose sister in law's baby was grabbed in the street by two men. she screamed, people helped, men ran off.
