To pretend they're all 14

We're going to the banger racing today. It's been advertised on the radio.
The pricing says £12 adults, £6 students and concessions, free under 10s.

So I've told ds he can invite some friends, and said it's £6 for them (I can't afford to treat them all). So I will have dd2 aged 6 - free, dd1 aged 11 - £6 and then 4 15 and 16 year olds, which I thought would be £6 each.

But I've now gone on the website to find opening time, and it says 10-14s £6, and students £6 with student id. Of course all the boys are still at school, but don't have student id cards, I don't think you can? So would it be so wrong to say they're all 14? surely ALL 15 and 16 year olds are students anyway.

Yes it would be wrong.

What will you do if they ask for Id?

You said you're not paying so what's the issue?

TheBirdsFellDownToDingADong · 27/05/2013 08:50

Student ID tends to mean FE or HE students btw.

CuttedUpPear · 27/05/2013 08:51

Just do it, I don't know why you need to debate it here Smile

pouffepants · 27/05/2013 08:51

The issue is that I've told them it's £6, because that's what it said on the radio.
And why give concessions for FE and HE students, but charge full whack for school students?

I need to debate it because I'm truly crap at lying, and need to feel that I'm actually justified, which tbh I think I am.

I would ring them up and ask if 15 year olds need ID. It doesn't make any sense to charge them adult price.

SquirtedPerfumeUpNoseInBoots · 27/05/2013 08:58

It's probably just a typo on the website. It was meant to read 10 - 16 years £6. Then students with ID after that.

Surely all under 16 are students?

pouffepants · 27/05/2013 09:01

That's what I thought.

They're all year 11, so at the tail end of their exams, but all are staying on for a-levels anyway.

Just tried to find a phone number, but it says you can't ring before 11am, and I need to leave at 10.30.
