to think it's a bit odd to bring your own food into a restaurant?

Friend had a birthday weekend away and there was 5 of us in the group.

One of the women who I don't know that well each time we would go out for breakfast she would go to Sainsbury's before and buy food and then eat it in the restaurant whilst the rest of ate the food we'd ordered.

She doesn't have a food allergy either. Is it me or aibu to think that it's a little bit odd?

She eats the same for breakfast/lunch/dinner

She ordered and ate different things every day.

I was joking. I have no idea why she would do this, she sounds odd.

Sounds odd, some people just are, there's no rational explanation for their behaviour.

Did none of this group of 'friends' not just say "What the hell are you doing with that carrier bag in here, you weirdo!?

Maybe your friends are much more polite than mine would be. Smile

BriansBrain · 26/05/2013 22:45

What did she eat at breakfast?

I'm odd with food but need to know the answer to the above question before I can reply properly.

squeakytoy · 26/05/2013 22:47

You were away with her.. why on earth did you not just ask her? Confused

FatherSpodoKomodo · 26/05/2013 22:50

Maybe if she was calorie counting it was a case of she knew exactly how many were in what she bought from the shop rather than guessing what was in the restaurant meal and then she was free to eat whatever in the evening?

Bit odd, but you never know?

And I'd have asked her too.

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 26/05/2013 22:50

Yes - we need to know exactly what she ate at each meal.

Can you set your reply out - Day One: breakfast etc. Just for ease of reference. Grin

I'm totally baffled how you sat there with this woman while she brought her own food in...and didn't think to ask her why she did it? Confused

SacreBlue · 27/05/2013 00:03

Lovely lady I work with occasionally takes her own food places - I know why because I've asked her and she answered.

I think if it was a friend it might have felt easier to ask but as a 'friend if a friend' I understand it might have not felt right.

I would have before work friend did this thought it weird and embarrassing, now I am ambivalent, it's her choice, doesn't affect me, so meh?

It is rather interesting to speculate as to reasons but a little less satisfying when, unlike Poirot, they may be no denouement :)
