I put Bananas in pyjamas on for my DS the other day and they were talking about running away, then the next day (can't remember the name of the programme) a nurse was sat on a blanket outside with some children maybe around 5years old and she was telling about constipation. AIBU to think these topics are a bit too grown up for children of a young age? Especially the 'running away' scenario.

Lots of small children say they're going to run away, I know my brother packed his suitcase up when he was about 5/6 to leave home, it doesn't mean they're actually going to do it, but I'd say it's appropriate for childrens TV to talk about it.

I think I know the program you're talking about with the constipation, so long as it's in an age appropriate way, why not talk about it?

I watched the constipation episode of get well soon with DS (nearly 2). I thought it was highly informative. DS didnt give a shit (pun totally intended) and just danced to the song about poo. Or rather not pooing.

I think you're overthinking it tbh. And I fail to see how the subject of constipation is "a bit too grown up" Confused

I do think Dr Ranj (god I love him!) explained the problem of constipation in a way a young child would understand. but i'm 27 and not very mature Grin

I think you are over thinking it. The toddler is 3 and he packs his bags and says he's going to his nannas.

He also watches SpongeBob which is more 'grown up'.

What topics would you prefer?

Was it Nurse Morag?

YABU

The programme about constipation was fab as my LO1 suffers from chronic constipation and therefore toilet phobia. We've been slowly working on it with support from a specialist doctor, but even better, it made DH sit with down and actually think about LO's condition as he just thinks its sheer laziness. LO and I now talk about traffic jams in the tummy and what we can do to help.

Just be grateful Dr Ranj didn't produce the Bristol scale. That would have made you gag on your cuppa
