Is there really that much interest in it nationally?

YABU.

It's nice to have something decent on Saturday night telly rather than the shit that is normally on.
I've watched the F1 and the football tonight.
To me that is the perfect Saturday night.
This is the first time I've watched mainstream tv on a Saturday night in ages.

Nope sparkling, packed the boys off to bed and going to watch a few Criminal Minds! Smile

I don't think I've sat down and watched this much TV on a Saturday night in years. I love F1 and the football wasn't bad. Be thankful for the goal 90 secs from the end otherwise it would still be on now ;-)

YABVVU F1 is so much better than football or the shit reality tv that normally fills the schedule on saturday nights!

It should have been on at 2pm live though Angry

Lazyjaney · 26/05/2013 08:43

Is it any worse than most Sat evening shit? I always assumed they put crap on a Sat night deliberately to get people out the house, as a sort of public service :)

Meerkatwhiskers · 26/05/2013 10:07

Yabu it's better than casualty. Although we were out last night for a change and have sky so watch it on the F1 channel with Martin Brundle Wink

Meerkatwhiskers · 26/05/2013 10:10

Although I should also point out that we had already seen it by then seeing as it was on the F1 channel live

QueVes · 26/05/2013 10:14

I agree, why would the nation want to watch the height of technological and sporting excellence when they could watch a bunch of 'famous for being famous' no-marks dancing badly or the manufacturing of the next one (cover version) hit wonder.

specialsubject · 26/05/2013 10:16

correct. The right time to broadcast it is live but Murdoch has bought it out. The hard bit is avoiding finding the result until we get tossed the scraps of the later replay.

at least F1 involves hard work and talent - even the hairdresser's kickabout needs some effort. Unlike the terrible reality and talent shows which fill the schedules. Thank goodness for the recorder box and the DVD player.

BTW 5:30 is not prime time TV, especially on a beautiful summer evening.

Stokes · 26/05/2013 17:31

You're right, it shouldn't have been on in prime time - it should've been on live and in full at 1pm. However, the Canadian GP in 2 weeks' time absolutely should be on BBC during prime time, as that is when it will be live. The problem here is that FOM allowed prioritised the fees allowing only half the races to be live on the BBC instead of reducing them to a reasonable level so that all fans would have access to live broadcasts of every race. Not showing sport in prime time.

helenthemadex · 26/05/2013 19:34

it was an eventful race and I got to watch that live! I generally watch it live online
