I think it depends on your financial position and how much the handbag is. YANBU to want to buy yourself a little treat if you can afford it.

But there are threads on here bashing dads-to-be who are spending money on games consoles/ unnecessary items when they should be prioritising the needs of the family.

I probably would. I have a bit of a thing for handbags - and you can always stick it on eBay when you find out its incompatible with a puking shitting permanently sticky new baby

You know you could just buy a designer changing bag instead, that way, there's no guilt factor because you need it for the baby.

Definitely get it. Not quite the same but i spent my bobus of a pimped up bugaboo (justifying it because i'd never spent more than £15 quid on a handbag). Loved every minute of pushing that pram but bit sad now ds has grown out of it. Choose well and the bag will last forever.

I bought a black Mulberry when I was pregnant 6 years ago and still use it almost every day and love it. To be fair I bought it in the sale at 50% off.

Mulberry Rosie baby bag or Anya Hindmarch Oakley?

The Rosie would work as a 'normal' handbag pre, post and during baby bags, the Oakley less so as it has visibly labelled sections.

Do you already have any DCs? Just thinking that the kind of handbag you will want for the first few years might be different than you would choose now. Bigger. Then you won't need a hideous changing bag.
