I would just change it over, although I do put it on so it can be heard throughout the house and get on with other things, much to the annoyance of my family.

No, he's normally okay (if a bit neurotic).

DH often has the television on in the morning with some financial show on (cable). He then wafts off and leaves the cacophony it on. I just switch it off, if he's not actually there. He knows where the zapper is, if he wants to turn it on.

As we speak, he is snoozing on the sofa, while "watching" the Giro. If it wasn't for Mumsnet, I'd be bored shitless!
