To ask how you best utilise your Clubcard points?

I'm quite new to the Tesco Clubcard points system and have just received my third statement which has £10 worth of vouchers.

Of the last 2 statements, one we put directly to that week's shop and the other was near Christmas so we did the exchange and bought toys for DC.

Neither coupon had got to more than £10 though. Looking through the leaflet I can see you can use points for all kinds of restaurants, days out etc. How do you use your points? Do you think it's best to save them all up till you've collected enough for something significant?

Over the years we have had:
Eden Project tix
Prezzo/Ask type restaurant voucher at the 4x exchange rate
3/4 of the cost of a Virgin holiday to the states (had to pay ~£400 cash)
Free flights to Aus (when it was airmiles and you didn't have to pay taxes)
Another £1200 off the last trip to the states.

I have a love/hate relationship with Tesco, I hate them on principle, but not enough to keep giving up my free holidays.

Days out here too. I've just got us 3 legoland tickets, and we never
pay to go to Drayton manor, always use vouchers.

One thing to remember though - the vouchers are valid for 2 years, but once you've exchanged them for rewards or tickets etc, they're only valid for 6 months from then.

I have a Tesco credit card and I use it for everything everywhere to maximise my points.

Me and DH always exchange £10 vouchers for £40 Ask voucher. It's our little night out we look forward to.

I sometimes forget them and they go out of date, sometimes spend them in the shop, sometimes put them towards a tesco phone (that was a good deal last year) and sometimes spend them on coupons many of which I don't use before they go out of date.

I've got this feeling that, since I bought my iphone through Tesco and have a Tesco (O2) monthly contract, I collect points every time the monthly payment is due.

Mine are automatically transferred to airmiles.
Last year 4 of us went to see Jersey Boys and also paid for our ferry on holiday.

So let me get this straight - if I get a Tesco credit card and use that to do my weekly shop, I'll get 2 lots of points - one for using the card and one for shopping at Tesco Is that right??

We typically do days out, e.g., in the past we've done Legoland, Longleat, Tower of London etc and we regularly exchange for Pizza Express vouchers.

We've also used a few times for the Eurotunnel.

Last year I had saved them and we had a 2 night stay in London, Hilton Kensington for 6 of us .

Have been saving them again and pondering what to do with them this year...I like to get the x4 value, and it's nice to use them for a special treat.

I only think it is worth spending on them when you get 4x the value old time gimmer who feels hard done by, now they are no where near as good deals as they used to be

So restaurants mainly. I will reluctantly use them for 3x deals but would never "waste" them on anything else.

We have tesco credit cards and pay for everything with them. They get paid of each month. I have spent the vouchers on ferries to IOW, days out, meals, legoland vouchers.

If you sign up to Tesco shopper thoughts online (just google it) you can fill in surveys & get paid in points, usually about 75 points per survey.

Also, some Tesco stores have recycling machines, which give you 1 point for 2 aluminium cans.

We have had loads of holidays in the past but every year they make it less of a good deal. Originally you got 4x value of a full price holiday/hotel break and could use them to pay supplements and everything. Now it's "special" tesco prices which are higher than normal prices, you sometimes have a maximum spend, you can't use them for supplements and it's often only 2x or 3x the value yearns for the good old days You could even get extra 1000 point codes on the internet - now they've closed all the loopholes.

We have the credit card too, but i don't think they are as generous with the points for this, as they used to be.

Still worth having and saving the points but the days of numerous free holidays are over for us.

Does anybody know if you get clubcard points on Tesco car insurance?

scarletcrossbones yes, extra points on all your spending on your credit card. Literally everything I ever buy goes on my tesco credit card. Rough estimate I get about £320 in vouchers every year.
Other cards offer other sorts of incentives: cash back etc. I prefer clubcard vouchers and have been loyal for 20 years now, (I think it's about that).

So I can avoid doing my own analysis; can anyone say whether Tesco has the best points program? I use Ocado at the moment and I don't think they even have a points thing. Do they?

We don't shop in Tesco very often and we usually spend all the vouchers at Christmas. But we have enough for Drayton manor tickets this year. I'm DS is so excited.

Boots points are the only ones that are technically more generous, but we spend way more in supermarkets than in Boots of course .

I've just renewed the RAC membership. £38 in points = £90 ish worth of RAC.

I save them for the summer holidays and use them for days out. I currently have tickets for Chessington, Legoland and the London Aquarium all bought with clubcard vouchers, ready to be used during the holidays.
