to think passing level 125 in candy crush saga is not an achievement worthy of mention in an interview?

I was interviewing to fill a volunteer position today at my work. One of the lame standard issue questions is 'what is your biggest achievement to date?' and candidates can answer drawing on experience from work or life.

That was the answer a woman we were interviewing gave.

What level is good enough for you

I'm I'm not there yet.

To be fair, i've always been rubbish at any sort of computer game so that really would be an achievement for me
That being said, i'm not sure i'd give it as an answer in an interview.

A friend of mine interviewed someone who said her swimming certificates were her biggest achievement and had brought them with her

I don't know about Candy Crush Saga, but I do think it's a shame that young people's achievements in gaming aren't ever recognised when they're applying for their first jobs, voluntary placements etc. Some online games require great concentration, multi-tasking skills, attention to detail. Obviously gaming isn't going to rate highly on application forms and appraisals in the corporate world, but for kids with very limited life experience beyond school, I don't see why gaming skills aren't relevant, compared to hockey or oboe practise or whatever. Sorry, not that relevant to the OP, but the snobbery we have about computer games vs other leisure activities is odd.

I do see your point OP but maybe, to her, it IS her biggest achievement. Who is anyone to denigrate what someone else sees as an achievement? Maybe she has what we might consider a very boring life?

She wasn't 'young', as in school leavers young, late 30's I'd say.

DH interviewed a school leaver for a training place once - she brought her cycling proficiency certificate and her mother .

I'm on level 147 but it is a game of 90% chance! Did she actually want the job or had the job centre made her go? Or was it a candy crush saga kind of job?

No enforced volunteering here! We recruit adults to pair up with young people who are accommodated to go out once a week, act as an advocate at reviews and support them with homework etc. We spend 12 weeks training them and are desperate for good volunteers able to commit for a year at least.

She's been offered a place on the training. They are observed throughout, if she is a candy crush one trick pony she'll be counseled out!
