To wish ds hadn't said his first word

Ds2 (13mths) has been very slow with talking. Babbles a bit mama/dada but NOTHING else, won't say bye bye or wave. Nothing.

I have been trying so hard to encourage him to talk and say his first proper word.

Today he did and it was....... "Arse"

Over and over again. All day Blush

The poor little thing is trying to say "yes" we worked out as if we say "yes" he copies it with "arse" and he's so pleased with himself.

I was desperate for him to say his first word and now I wish he hadn't (or at least that it had been something else)

DD couldn't say breakfast, I still remember the Avon ladies face when a 18m old toddler shouted Bastard at her. We also have a church at the end of the road and she used to point to the cross on the roof and shout JESUS!!.

BlackeyedSusan I completely agree! Though having to be very careful not to hurt myself when DD (3 y) around!
One of her first words was shoe, which was fine, but then she combined it with the command she heard me give the dogs before they get their dinner (sit).... And sh*t was her favourite word for quite a while!

DS1 used to be heard over the monitor at night "night, night, bang, bang, bugger, bugger". naughty Daddy had to clean up language fast! DS1 another time in church age 2 1/2, listening to a sermon about Jesus turning water into wine, said at top of voice, "Daddy would like that" :-)

Raspberries will be forever known as "bastardies" in our house Blush
