It's too early.

Iteotwawki · 11/05/2013 07:09

Any reason why you can't wait a little longer? I have children and I'd be irritated if my neighbours disturbed me with noise before 9am on a weekend. Assuming your spin cycle will disturb them anyway.

CSIJanner · 11/05/2013 07:12

Can you hear the children yet? Could you possibly knock and ask?

Personally, I don't even Hoover before 8am so in that sense, YABU. Unless you knock and ask, I would leave it until 8am as you have no idea what the noise is like for them downstairs.

Sirzy · 11/05/2013 07:13

How do you know they are awake?

I wouldn't do anything like that before 8

StinkyElfCheese · 11/05/2013 07:13

fair enough .... i will wait :)

I would say its too early. You need to try and get something you can put under it that will absorb some of the shock! Maybe like a car footwell mat!

ZillionChocolate · 11/05/2013 08:21

CSIJanner isn't that waking them up to see if they're awake? Or do you mean ask them during the day whether the washing machine disturbs them?

I think 7 is too early.

CecilyP · 11/05/2013 08:33

I think it might depend on the level of insulation between the flats. You would be best to ask them if they hear your washing machine if it is on. I would not assume that they would be up if they have children, so would definitely leave it until after 8 until you know.

NotTreadingGrapes · 11/05/2013 08:34

I'm in Italy where people get up at stupid o'clock, but even I think 7am is too early.

And after 7pm is too late.

Never underestimate how noise travels in flats.

nannynick · 11/05/2013 08:43

Not just the noise that travels but the vibrations.

Wait until 8:30/9.

Softlysoftly · 11/05/2013 08:46

I love knock and ask if it will wake them up Grin

GalaxyDefender · 11/05/2013 08:49

I usually wait until 9, but that's because I have a dickhead for a downstairs neighbour who bangs on the ceiling at the slightest noise. Probably better to be safe than sorry though.

forevergreek · 11/05/2013 08:51

Wait! 7am is far too early. It's 8.50 now and im mn from bed, dh and children 2 and 3 years are still asleep. I wouldn't be happy to be disturbed over clothes being washed

MousyMouse · 11/05/2013 08:54

just do it unless your mashine is un-adjusted and sounds like a helcopter on the spin cycle
noises like that part and parcel of flat living.

NonnoMum · 11/05/2013 08:55

I would.

7am on a lovely sunny morning is fine to wake up at...

IneedAsockamnesty · 11/05/2013 08:57

Ywbu.

Its far to early and in a flat it could be considered to be unreasonable inconsiderate noise.

StinkyElfCheese · 11/05/2013 08:59

I have just put it on ... their dogs are barking in the garden so i am assuming they are up :)

My neighbours (underneath me) sing, yes SING, to their baby from about 6.30am. Put the washing on as revenge for me!

Primadonnagirl · 11/05/2013 09:04

The people below us regularly have theirs on at 3am!!! Do washing machines have timers or do they get up in the night to put a load in I winder???

NotTreadingGrapes · 11/05/2013 09:07

Some have timers, our upstairs neighbours do theirs at 1am. It's cheaper at stooooopid o'clock y'see. Angry

StinkyElfCheese · 11/05/2013 14:14

Of course it pees down with rain so I have done 4 loads of washing and have no where to dry the Bastard wet clothes - bugger

OP posts:
CSIJanner · 11/05/2013 14:26

Zillion - catching them during the day to ask. Defeats the object knocking on the door at 7am Wink

cumfy · 11/05/2013 21:15

Do they sleep in their kitchen ?

Or is your washing machine in the bedroom ?

Should be OK unless either of these apply.
