Going twycross for DS 3rd birthday next week.

under 3's are £1
3-16 is £10.45 so its a big jump

don't suppose he could then wear a badge saying 'i am 3'

yes,definitely do it.

IrritatingInfinity · 11/05/2013 10:46

I do think it is dishonest to lie about the kids ages, even if you think the entry fees are ridiculous you still shouldn't lie. It is theft Sad If you don't like it you shouldn't go.

What would you say to your kids when they decide it is acceptable to lie to you if you have been telling them it is ok to lie at other times.

Charging full price at 3 for amusement parks etc is outrageous. Shock

Viviennemary · 11/05/2013 10:46

Well technically if he was born in the evening and you take him in the morning or afternoon that should be OK for your conscience. As long as he doesn't tell the person at the door he's three.

differentnameforthis · 11/05/2013 11:01

It is absolutely ridiculous that it leaps by almost 10pounds as soon as they are three. I would pay lesser price.

If that is stealing, what they are doing is daylight robbery!

TheHumancatapult · 11/05/2013 11:03

dontbemean yup i will not go to theme park where charge by age ten ban ds3 from riding as to tall and say well he must have two adults with him due to sn in case ride stops as cant get down on his own ( he so tiny one could carry him if ride got stuck )

TheHumancatapult · 11/05/2013 11:03

small not tall*

mrsjay · 11/05/2013 11:29

book them online I cant understand the huge jump it is awful so a 2.11 month old is going to look at less animals and be less interested that a 3 year old it is madness, pay the pound and dont think anything else of it

mrsjay · 11/05/2013 11:31

I would also compalin after you have been Wink about the prices

MurderOfProse · 11/05/2013 11:40

I'm always honest (no judgement at all on those who aren't over things on this scale, it's just my own conscience and mild OCD I think!) and I have been stunned at the number of times and places I've had an employee "correct" my DCs age downwards with a wink.

In your scenario I'd say two because I could square it with my conscience due to the time of birth!

mrsjay · 11/05/2013 12:27

I am not stingy about paying full price at all but i think a £9 jump from a 2 year old to a 3 year old is daylight robbery it doesn't make sense

Oldraver · 11/05/2013 12:32

My DS was very small for his age and was in his Group 1 car seat for ages till he was nearly 7. I admit a few times when we drove up to the window the person on the gate went "oh 1/2 adults and I never corrected them Blush

mrsjay · 11/05/2013 12:36

dd got into longleat last year as an under 18 the woman at the desk just said 2 adults to children , Blush

mrsjay · 11/05/2013 12:36

she doesn't look her age either

Calabria · 11/05/2013 14:51

Years ago I went with my ex and his two young nephews to a bird park. As it was out of season you just had to pay the first member of staff who you saw, rather than paying on the way in.

So when we did find someone to pay Uncle T said he wanted to pay for two adults and one child as the littlest one was under four. So the older boy pipes up in a loud voice "{little brother} is four"! Cue Uncle and staff member studiously ignoring him and me trying to keep a straight face Grin

I got on the bus for half when I was 28 :-) and it was the day after a big night before!

I am impressed I got on till i was 21 but I was pregnant and showing so I guess they didnt believe me anymore

ChazDingle · 11/05/2013 20:41

thanks for the comments, think i will book him at the cheaper price (which is actually 95p as 5% off for booking online in advance) but if anyone asked i would say it turned 3 that evening so i wouldn't be lying.

There are 4 adults going so we're going to be paying £60 on tickets alone

YANBU

Wouldn't even think twice about it!

MummaBubba123 · 11/05/2013 21:16

What time of day is he 3? You could play that card!
Lol

Naysa · 11/05/2013 21:31

I'm actually laughing that peooke think thia is equivilent to stealing Grin

That much of a leap between the two ages is a joke. They should eith have the prices close togther or have another price for say 3-10s eg £5. Think nothig of it OP. Just try not to go robbing banks now you're a hardened criminal Hmm Grin

squoosh · 11/05/2013 21:36

OP will be next be springing hardened crims from Securitas vans that are en route to prison.

googlyeyes · 11/05/2013 21:42

YANBU!

Am actually staggered that anyone thinks this is wrong

Llanbobl · 12/05/2013 09:22

Twycross is a great zoo and they do a lot of conservation work. I think YABU doing them out of the extra revenue for that reason alone.

Alternatively if you are determined to go down the under 3 path, choose the opt out prices and only pay 91pence for your 3 year old. Of course IMHO you would then BVVU

But hey, you save some money but the zoo lose out .

FuckThisShit · 12/05/2013 09:29

He won't be three FFS! Stealing? Slippery slope? Do get a fucking grip.
