To be just a little disappointed with this pudding menu?

I have a bit of a "thing" about having a look at the menu of a place we're off to eat at before we go.... Now I absolutely LLLUURRRVVVEE pudding, so that's the first place I'll look!!

So AIBU to think this pudding menu is a little boring or am I just uncultured??

Lemon meringue bavarois, raspberry sorbet

Poached pear, dark chocolate sauce, ginger ice cream

Rhubarb crème brûlée, apple sorbet, rhubarb compote

Selection of homemade ice creams & sorbets in a brandy snap basket

Cheese Plates: A selection of four British & French cheeses with traditional accompaniments

I mean WHERE'S THE CHOCCY CAKE?????!!!!!

I went to a pub once and they didn't have custard to serve with crumble Sod off with your ice cream or cream, I want custard

Nandos have a terrible pudding selection. Pudding is the best bit.

That's actually their March menu - there'll likely be a different menu by the time you go.

Sounds great to me, I always have the cheese.

we are off out to our favourite pub for roast sunday lunch tomorrow - and there are always gorgeous pudds too

usually a choice of

something moussey (layered triple choc or lemon)
2 crumbles
2 hot pudds eg treacle sponge, sticky toffee, jam roly poly or spotted dick
there will be humungous slices of cheescake of which the white choc & baileys one is practically orgasmic
there will be hot choc fudge cake with cream and ice cream
and a few cold pudds like pavlova and banoffee pie

I can't wait!

Rhubarb in one dish and ginger in the other instantly puts me off two of the dishes .

I would have to go for the lemon meringue but would prefer something along the lines of a posh chocolate brownie, served with espresso ice cream.

I think it sounds brilliant! Much better than the usual 'choice' of tiramisu, chocolate fudge cake, cheese cake.

For everyone who was wondering a Bavarois is like a thicker/solider more creamy and delicious version of mousse.

Actually, where is this restaurant? Please say London/South East so I can go there.

I wouldn't fancy much off that list - It's all very fruit based and philistine that I am, I'm not a big fan of cooked fruits.

Is it the kind of place that will have a daily/weekly specials board? The best puddings are usually on there.

Maybe they have a cake trolley too.

I would have had the pear and been perfectly happy but it is oddly cakeless.

I love that pud menu. I almost never order chocolate puds and if anything contains lemons, pears, rhubarb or ginger I'm there like a shot. I'd happily order all any of those.

But I agree if I ran a restaurant (which I do, in my head, all the time) I would include something chocolately, even if I didn't fancy it myself. I think the person who has picked those has focused too much on what they like. Which owuld be fine for me, but obviously not for you.

I'd pass on that lot, but I don't mind giving puddings a miss. However if the list is good I will have one, so they would be missing out on some of my money.

There is too much fruit, and although I like pears I don't like them enough to want to pay £5 for one, especially not with ginger ice cream which sounds vile. Presumably you could substitute vanilla ice cream though.

Give me a good cheesecake, summer pudding, lemon meringue or apple pie if you are doing fruit. Add to that a syrup pudding and custard for DH, a hot chocolate pud of some kind unadulterated by alcohol, ginger, coffee or fruit, some plain ice creams and sorbets, cheeseboard, job done.

No it's a bit boring I must say. No sticky toffee pudding, profiteroles or even chocolate cake. But maybe they are finding people don't want a heavy pudding.
