This has just been shared by one of my 'friends'.Please keep a close eye on your children.. Today my precious 5 year old goddaughter was approached by a man in a green car in the knaphill area. He gave her a pound and told her to go to the shop up the road. Luckily she had adults around watching her but please take care of your precious Angels. There are some sick people around and it only takes a split second! I dread to think what could have happened xxxx love her millions.

Ummm, what exactly did this 'sick individual' do wrong? Poor guy, I'm willing to bet he got abused for it too, when he was probably just trying to do a nice thing.

Very few sane people would go and offer an unknown child money..

Grooming.

I have been given the odd bit of change for my kids by strangers before (just met but chatted for a while), but they have always given it to me and asked if it was okay.

You do have to be careful. I remember warnings going round Hampstead about a group of men who tried to grab a little girl and bundle her into a car. She was walking a few yards in front of her mother, who ran and shouted so that they stopped.

My dd & i were walking dwn the street one day. A man in front of us bent down, picked up a dropped pound coin & then gave it to my dd.

I was surprised. Only coz he looked like he needed it more than my dd did.

Some people are genuinely nice & not sinister. However being approached by someone in a car can b quite intimidating i feel.

The man has tried to get at least another two children since this thread was last updated. The police are doing patrols all around the schools, its been sent round on neighbourhood watch alerts and there were even police helicopters out looking for the man on Tuesday night after he tried to speak to another child. Every time he approaches a child, he drives away quickly as soon as an adult comes over.

As parents, we are all keeping a very close watch on our children, especially the girls.

He drives a very distinctive car apparently, and every single attempt has been in a small area. I just wish the police would catch him.

(BTW I imagine the OP's friend was just scared and that was why she used the sentimental language. The implicit warning was spot on.)
