To think you need your chemistry text book to revise chemistry.

According to ds3's school, I would seem to be. He has his Chemistry Standard grade exams tomorrow (these are the scottish equivalent of GCSEs) - and he and all his classmates were made to give their textbooks in, so they could be processed for next year's students.

Is it just me, or is that a bit odd? Surely you need your textbook in order to revise a subject properly? He still has his notes, and access to past papers, but what if there is something he needs to look up in his textbook?

The sensible thing would to be everyone brings the textbook to the exam and hands it in on the way into the room.

DS2 has chosen his 3rd year subjects. At parents' night head of science told me there were no text books because the new curriculum was still being written.
We have an avalanche of bloomin' worksheets and I would kill for the odd text book or two (I am sooo ancient).

I think maybe a scheme where the parents have to give school a credit card number (like you do when you check in at a hotel) and over the years if the allocated text books get lost or destroyed, they can be charged for them.

I think a lot of text books would soon appear back at school!

Maddening - you are so right! As are you, melika - and I would happily do this.
