To want dh to stop farting about and do something useful?

DH is currently "sorting out" our kitchen cupboards - in other words moving stuff about so I won't be able to find it when I need it. He spent the weekend tidying up the shed!

AIBU in that i would quite like him to do something useful, like maybe run the hoover over or tidy something people actually see. Also would it BU to hit him with one of the pans (that are now on the worktop) next time he opens another cupboard, emits a deep sigh and says "I don't know how you find anything in here".

YANBU at all. I asked my DH if he would wash up yesterday while I sorted the laundry, ironed it and put it away. He said no, he was going to hang the TV bracket in the caravan we're not going on holiday anytime soon, so there is no rush for it

My dp always finds the most obscure jobs to do and wonders why I'm not patting him on the back for sorting out the cutlery draw while I'm stressing out about the trillion things that we have to do that actually matter!!!

Why eat meals or wear clean clothes when you can organise you collection of offcuts and screws?

It's a good job I don't live with anyone. I would be your DH.

Having a good sort out or doing some DIY is so much more fun than boring day-to-day things like vacuuming.

On the devious plus side, you do realise that this is playing right into your hands - he now has to take responsibility for putting everything away and for cooking because only he knows where everything is.

Offcuts and screws don't organise themselves you know.

Tell me about it fallen, I'll be the 'first to complain' when I suddenly need oddments of wood screwing together with a specialist screw type. Wont I look the fool!
