That one of my friends on Facebook has just wrote a status saying -
"Don't mean to brag, but both kids in bed for the night, nice easy night for me" Shock Shock

I absolutely can't believe it. Naturally, I thought the children might of woke early but she proceeded to answer comments from equally as shocked parents telling them this was an often occurrence and the children wake up at 7.00am every morning without fail.

Now, I am not saying she's doing anything wrong, but bedtime for a 4 and 5 year old at 4.00pm has left me Shock

Anyone else do this? What time do you all put your children to bed?

Fairylea · 28/04/2013 20:33

Wow that is early for a 4 and 5 year old!!

Having said that ds is 11months old and sleeps 5.30 - 7am most days. Dd was exactly the same. I'm a big sleeper too and need 10 hours sleep even now and go to bed at 9.30ish every night so maybe it's genetic!

OhHullitsOnlyMeYoni · 28/04/2013 20:35

I am envious! Although maybe she has a gas leak Shock

Ds1 7 goes to bed between 630 and 7ish DS2 530 6ish . They both are early risers no matter what time they do go to bed. The more sleep they get the better.

My two both fell asleep as 2.. still asleep at 5.. expected them to wake up and be infinfor a long night but they both slept till 7 it was just after Christmas and i thinkbthinkiN hadbjust caught up with them. d it

SquirrelNuts · 28/04/2013 20:45

4pm! Shock so they go to bed straight after school? That cant be right. I though my DS slept a lot he has to have 12 hours.

imaginethat · 28/04/2013 20:47

I have a friend who puts her 7 yo to bed at 5.30pm and 10yo at 6.45pm.

YoniRanger · 28/04/2013 20:54

Just Wow.

When DD is poorly she thinks nothing of staying in bed all day so from 7pm until 12pm the next day but that is super rare

If I put her to bed at 4pm the screaming would bring the police to my door Grin

SarahAndFuck · 28/04/2013 20:54

Are you sure your posts were set to sort 'most recent' and not 'top stories'? She might have posted it the night before but you saw it as a top story at 4pm.

4pm does sound very early but if they are sleeping well then they must need the rest. DS is just four and goes at 7pm, has stories until about 7:20pm and will then look at a book or two himself before falling asleep, usually before 8pm.

He then wakes about 7-7:30am. Sometimes I have to wake him up at 8am.

HamAlive · 28/04/2013 20:59

If they weren't tired then they wouldn't sleep, even if it seems early to you. DS has been known to go to bed at 5ish on occasion.

Geckoandthemonkey · 28/04/2013 21:06

Both my dc were asleep for 6 tonight & will probably wake at around 7am. Dc2 is Bf tho, so wakes midnight then back up 6am & will sleep for approx another hour. 4pm does sound early tho. Perhaps her dc's burnt off a lot of energy today?

Rowgtfc72 · 28/04/2013 21:15

DD is six and goes to bed between six and seven, usually nearer six. She wakes at half six every morning. Once in bed shes asleep within quarter of an hour. Just before Christmas she was in bed before six. She likes her sleep !

Thingiebob · 28/04/2013 21:21

Impressive. My just turned three year old rarely sleeps more than 9 hours an night. She fell asleep at 8.30pm today which means I know I will get a early wake up call! She has had plenty of fresh air and running around today but she still doesn't sleep much longer than nine hours.

She dropped her naps at 18 months... I am counting on her being very clever or me and DH will feel hard done by!

rubyflipper · 28/04/2013 21:26

DD (2.5) has very occasionally gone to bed at 5pm and woken up at 6.30am.

No offence, but Who Cares?? This doesn't affect you in any way OP.

SummerRainIsADistantMemory · 28/04/2013 21:34

My boys were sick once and asked to go to bed at 6. I was gobsmacked at that so you can imagine how shocked o am at 4pm

Dd has never needed much sleep, she went to bed at gone 9 last night, was up before 6 and is still up now. She'll be bright as a button tomorrow.

The boys like their sleep but prefer lie ins to early nights.

Booboostoo · 28/04/2013 22:23

Gobsmacked? No. Bloody jealous? YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES!

DD is 2 years old, goes to bed at 9.30, gets up at 7.45 and often skips her one hour afternoon nap! I definitely need more sleep than her!

Bunbaker · 28/04/2013 22:33

I am amazed that a child needs that much sleep. Even as a baby DD never slept for a solid 12 hours. On the odd occasion she went to sleep at 6pm she was wide awake at 11pm.

If a child of mine regularly needed 14 or 15 hours sleep a night I would be quite worried and would want to know why - carbon monoxide, iron deficiency, diabetes etc.

Littlefish · 28/04/2013 22:40

BunBaker - Dd regularly used to sleep for 14 hours a night between the ages of 3 and 5. We would put her to bed at 7pm and she would wake up at about 9am. i took her to the GP who said it was absolutely fine and she was just one of those children who needed a lot of sleep. She's now 8 and still sleeps from 7.30/8.00pm until 8.30am at weekends. She just really needs 12 hours sleep a night.
