My cheek is swollen and there is a fairly sizable lump on the side of my mouth. I want to go to the doctors just to have it checked out as I can't get in to the dentist for five weeks. DP thinks I am being a hypercondreact but I really am worried about it.

I know that I do react differently than I used to about illness after personal things that have effected my judgement.

Sounds like a tooth abscess to me. Call your own dentist first thing, state it's an emergency, explain exactly what you said here - visible lump, painful to touch, on a recently filled tooth which has broken again. They will see you.

Sleeton lump is in same region as swelling, pain to touch next to a a tooth that has been filled about three months ago which has fallen out in part a few weeks ago.
Sounds like an apical abscess. Possible (longer term) Treatment likely to be something like a root canal treatment, with the root canal being filled. This will involve a local anaesthetic.
However if immediately treated with antibiotics (also analgesic and saline mouth wash) not only will the long term treatment outcome be (likely) better, but the local anaesthetic will 'take' better too, when you do get to the dentist.
On that basis I would go to the doctor. These things can get terribly painful if left.

Your DP is being an arse - but then a lot of men are about going to the doctor, they wait until it's too late to fix something before going. If it's an infection, do you want to wait until he deems you ill enough to get medical treatment so you can say "see, I wasn't wrong about it being serious" but then you have to deal with the consequences.

From now on, ignore your DP when it comes to your and your DCs health, if he wants to put himself in an early grave and suffer on stoically, let him, but don't let him force you to put up with pain because he doesn't believe that your pain is to the level that he would seek treatment. I also wouldn't bother telling him you are in pain or that you are going to the doctors/dentists. People this stupid about health are best not to bother involving, they'll only give you opinions that are best to be ignored, waste of time for everyone.
