To buy my son a dolly?

Following on from SP's spoof baby thread, it seems like loads of your boys have dollies! My DS is 2.5.

I really want to buy him a baby dolly. DH was a bit 'where's the point? You're just buying him one to make a point'.

But I think, he's going to (hopefully) be a Daddy himself one day, and he's already got a kitchen. DH was a bit Hmm about that one too, until I asked him why he thought cooking was women's work Grin and he has since admitted that it is the best toy for DS ever, who absolutely loves it.

So AIBU to call my DH over this one as well, and go and buy DS a dolly, even if DH makes faces?

pip I know, that's what I said earlier. If he was a DD, I would have bought a few by now.

Tbh I'll buy my son whatever he wants toywise but draw the line at buying the pink patent glitter shoes he wanted in clarks.

I drew the line at buying my DD the pink, glittery shoes she coveted.
Luckily she is older and now covets a pair of DMs (which are even more ridiculously expensive).

I got my DS a baby doll and a buggy as I had had to prize a particularly tacky pink plastic buggy and hideously ugly doll out of his hands in a charity shop. That was over a year ago and he still plays with them loads. Dolly spends pretty much all of her time in the buggy as he gets upset if anyone takes her out of it. It kind of fascinates me that he loves the baby/buggy set up so much, as he's never actually been in one. It's just playing with toys, isn't it?

The 'Calin' doll by Corrolle is sweet for boys. Here

Oh, and I meant to say that it makes walking anywhere with him so much quicker and easier as he walks so purposefully when he's taking dolly out.

the pink buggy is the bed toy i ever got my ds - he takes gruffalo for a walk every day for the last year! i haven't got him a doll as he is quite happy using a bear or gruffalo but ds (2) does love playing with dolly at cms. he also loves toy kitchens, real vacuum cleaners, cars and dinosaurs. he's a toddler so will play with anything Grin

DS has one of the Ikea soft ones, can't remember how much but they are unisex, not expensive and lots of cheap clothes, he loves it. Just get one, and definitely a buggy, he can push all sorts of crap around in it Grin
