To get so cross with a toothpaste company

My daughter hates the minty taste of toothpaste. She has been using 'aquafresh little teeth' for years. The dentist is fine with this it has 1450ppm fluoride. Now they have changed the formula and it has an added blue stripe and too minty. Now I have to spend a fortune looking for mild minty candidates that don't make her tongue 'burn'. Why oh why do that have to mess about with the flavour. Also why add a bright blue stripe? Imagine the chemicals added to make it that blue.
Argh.

ilovepowerhoop · 23/04/2013 14:03

blibblibs · 23/04/2013 14:06

The co-op have a childrens mild minty one that my two can tolorate.

worried90 · 23/04/2013 14:11

Peppa pig bubblegum is high fluoride
Dawood and tanner (google) does lime or lemon
Amazon.co.uk does Colgate orange (I think) or cinnamon and Colgate bubblegum

Fudgemallowdelight · 23/04/2013 14:19

Mine don't like mint so I buy them strawberry ones from places like Boots, Superdrug, Morrisons. Would your dd like that?

Honsandrevels · 23/04/2013 14:22

You can buy Aquafresh mild and minty in Wilkos.

Children's toothpaste is a con! Most don't have a enough flouride to protect teeth unless you live in a an area with it added in the water.

AnythingNotEverything · 23/04/2013 14:23

My ds (13) has always been a mint avoider, bbut the only one he'll use is the standard, non fancy Colgate in the stand up tube. Te packaging is red and white. It's minty, but not TOO minty.

Bramshott · 23/04/2013 14:24

DD2 will only tolerate the Boots Smiles one that fledtoscotland linked to earlier. The stress and tears we had last year when it was out of stock for a little while Hmm

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 23/04/2013 14:28

Same here, my DCs will only use the Boots Age 6+ one it was a disaster when it all disappeared last year. I stockpile it now, the tubes are so small they get through them really quickly.

SoupDragon · 23/04/2013 14:31

DS2 hates really minty toothpaste but likes the "mild and minty" Aquafresh one linked to earlier. Very difficult to get hold of though - our local poundland sometimes has a stock and I buy in bulk.

Picturesinthefirelight · 23/04/2013 14:35

Try Pronamel. Big Teeth has always been too minty for ds but he's fine with this one.

Wabbitty · 23/04/2013 15:02

Superdrug do an adult's strawberry flavour one

Sleepysocks · 23/04/2013 17:05

The Sensodyne Pronamel for children discoloured my son's teeth - apparently some people's enamel are susceptible to this. We moved back to Big Teeth but now the kids hate the flavour - argh!!!!

DilysPrice · 23/04/2013 17:14

Tell me about it. We found a shop with the old stuff in stock, but eventually it's going to run out and there will be another set of [cross] Sad faces chez Price..

I just went upstairs to do a compare and contrast and it's not about the mint - both seem equally minty to me, but the new one combines it with an unpleasant artificial bubblegum flavour.

OpenBonnet · 23/04/2013 19:06

YABU. I'm mean too! If there's only mint in the house, she'll have to use it. She'll get used to it. Smile

malteserzz · 23/04/2013 19:36

Am so glad to read this thread I always thought it was just mine who moaned about too minty toothpaste ! He loves polos too !

MGgirl · 23/04/2013 19:45

Pronamel for children has a good level of ppm and not too minty

LivesInLegoland · 23/04/2013 19:55

Another vote for Crest mild mint. Only one my mint hating 9 year old will have.

goingupinfumes · 23/04/2013 20:00

I've just bought sensodyne kids and it's lovely, mild but minty - worth a look? I know this as my DH went away and took our grown up toothpaste, so had to use for 2 days.

gerbilsarefun · 23/04/2013 20:39

Poundstretcher sell Punch & Judy. We have bought Aldi's own toothpaste but don't like it because it is too mild.

Lonecatwithkitten · 23/04/2013 20:47

My dentist just told me children's toothpaste waste of money just go straight for the adult one. She moaned about the taste for about 4 days and then got used to it. But then I'm mean aparantly.

mindermummy · 01/07/2013 21:54

Omg....so glad I found this.....I am going through this nightmare too!!! My daughter is kicking off about the spicy other toothpastes....I have told her its changed and old one gone....but need to find a less minty alternative....think I will go try that boots one.x

DoubleLifeIsALifeHalved · 01/07/2013 22:50

Yup mine is totally off the new taste, I thought it was him being picky!

We've swapped to the punch & judy strawberry one, which he loves. I wish adult toothpastes came in a variety of flavours, I've never liked mint myself
