WIBU to assume they're not coming?

Is it unreasonable to expect that a few days before a childrens party, where 30+ invites were sent, that more than 10 people would have replied?

Would it be u to assume the ones who haven't replied aren't coming? No idea how many to cater for.

I am mean - I make a mental note of the "non repliers" and then they dont get invited the next time. I know that may not be fair on the DC but in some of the cases I now know the DC would not have even shown the invite to parents as they generally KNOW they would not be allowed to go. Sad but true.

It is bloody rude not to reply. How hard is it to do a quick text or a smile and sorry but X cannot come. I have also had replies thourgh the letterbox on the actual morning of the lunchtime party saying somone was not coming. It would have been ruder if they WERE coming!

Same happened to me earlier this year. I invited 15 kids for my dd party & only 4 replied. Then it snowed heavily & the venue called to cancel because the roads were v bad. I called all those who replied but didnt have everybodys numbers. We left a note at the front of the hall in case the none RSVPs turned up.

which I doubt they did but my dd wasnt too bothered by the cancellation as we had a yummy cake to eat.

I hate non-repliers. I have a party of my own coming up in a few weeks and one person has RSVPd. She's my auntie. Even my own mother hasn't.

I remember in the 90s when I was little and a birthday invite was a huge thing. Now it's like people are just expected to have enough cake/jelly/pop for 30 kids without replies, and wine/coffee/cheese for all the parents who randomly appear.

YANBU. It's rude.
