To think people on Freecycle should at least try and be polite

Just that really! I am giving them something for nothing and some (most) of them are downright rude.

I agreed for one woman to have two things I was offering and then cancelled because she couldn't be bothered to say please or thank you! Just had a lovely couple come around who were really nice so they definitely deserved them more than the rude cow!

Sometimes you are actually doing them a favour, myself and friends have literally gone straight to the tip with some utter junk.

HOwever some people have also done me a favour with quick prompt collection and got things out of my way.

I have been doing it for several years now, I always try and be polite and usually get what I ask for, in return, if several people reply to an item I am giving away, I always pick the most polite one. Unless its only one response and I want the item gone.

However I have given and received some amazing stuff on there and only once had someone not so nice come to inspect a BBQ I was giving away.......usually everyone has been v nice.

It does work two ways, I am not sanctimonious about stuff I am giving away.

Grovelling isn't required,
but basic manners... Nobody's literacy is so low they can type "I want it" but not attempt "please".

I gave up on freecycle due to rude people. The emails are awful - and I also acquired a stalker type at one point.
However it can really help out those in need so I will think its a good site ...but not for me

Try the wanted section of netmums if you want rude and entitled. Some of the posts amaze me.

Wanted for free. Need a Bugaboo, must be good condition. Would need it delivered as have no car.

YANBU. I've had a few no-shows, and people who just wanted to grab and go rather grumpily.

I think some people just reply immediately to everything offered, so I leave it a day or two before deciding who to offer to.

I don't take too much notice of "reasons" for needing the item as these may just be dubious and carefully crafted.

I'm most likely to offer to someone who sounds polite and not pushy.

I have found some corkers on freecycle, I love those obnoxious cheeky chancers!
