AIBU to think spraying fences when washing is out

Is fucking not on. Next door has done this and the spray has drifted into three gardens and ruined all our washing. He could see we had washing out as he was on a ladder before he began spraying, cleaning the gutters. I heard his wife say 'check no one has the washing out'. Thought nothing of it. Go to check dryness of washing and there are speckles of creosote all over my whites. In a mad coincidence other neighbours checked at the same time and there was a collective WTAF! So are we ABU to be pissed off and want to kick him?

What a lovely ending Smile so glad that they are doing the right thing.

Tell them they are more than welcome to move next door to me anytime Grin

They have been here for a number of years. The cheques are from a joint account. We had a little street party for the jubilee and they were friendly but quiet. He seemed really apologetic I just hope he doesn't have some form of dementia because during our debrief here with wine the mum of the baby said she heard the wife tell him to check for washing.
He didn't seem bewildered by what had happened though.

I hope it didn't add up to too much money. Confused They did the right thing.

Oh gosh they're so nice to have replaced the damaged articles. It must have cost them a fortune and they're a retired couple.

I'm just wondering if household insurance would cover something like that.

I'm not saying that you and the other neighbours shouldn't have been annoyed, it's just that it is probably a lot of money they've paid out. Maybe you should suggest they could check if their own insurance will cover it.

Glad to read that this had a positive resolution with lovely neighbours.

I misread the thread title originally and thought it said 'spraying faeces'!

All underthings were multi packs from M and S. it seems Sunday is whites day around here. My DH shirts were multi pack too. Towels were from BHS. And he put a cover over his new Audi before he sprayed.
