To enjoy "The Voice" and think its now as bad as people say?

I've actually been laughed at by people for saying that I enjoy this programme but I don't think its as bad as some people are saying. I think the standard of singing on its very good and there are no "joke" contestants, the song choices on it are a lot better than the typical karaoke fare you get on X Factor or Britain's Got Talent and the judges are actually qualified to judge people.

I feel like I am the only person in the UK still watching though. AIBU to think its not that bad? More importantly does anyone actually agree with me?........

Will I would. Is reason enough to watch it.

AmIthatSpringy · 20/04/2013 13:43

I love the Voice, except where they stray into sob story territory, which is a bit too much x-factory for my liking

I agree, I too would Will I all night Grin

I don't care if I am in the minority - I am the Voice and Strictly all the way, and haven't watched X factor or BGT in years.

WhereYouLeftIt · 20/04/2013 13:44

Another fan here!

PseudoBadger · 20/04/2013 13:46

I like it. we have been known to swivel our chairs

PseudoBadger · 20/04/2013 13:46

Grr. we have been known to swivel our chairs

CelticPixie · 20/04/2013 13:47

Glad it's not just me. I've really come to dislike Simon Cowell and his shows, they are completely fake and set up. The Voice feels a lot more "real" to me, and yet I've had friends and relatives tell me its "crap and boring" when they've never actually watched it half the time.

It's perfect Saturday night slobbing on the sofa telly.

WorriedMummy73 · 20/04/2013 13:53

I found myself watching it with DD a couple of weeks back. And I will definitely agree that the talent is loads better than X Factor and that the judges are better qualified to comment.

However, we felt really uncomfortable at the young lad (16, iirc) who had a lovely voice and no one turned round. There were tears in his eyes when he finished and the judges asked his age, then, when they knew how young he was they all looked really awkward and it got very patronising. 'Oh, if I'd known how old you were, I would have taken you on!'. 'Please come back next year'. etc, etc.

And that fecking Welsh woman who took nearly half an hour to choose which judge she wanted...

KirjavaTheCat · 20/04/2013 13:54

Another unashamed fan here, but it took some time to come to terms with the fact I like one of these abominations programs.

I hate them all.

...Apart from the voice.

Maybe I'm a sucker for a rotating chair? Oh and Will-i-am is pure comedy.

RedHelenB · 20/04/2013 13:56

Much better than X factor so YANBU.

CelticPixie · 20/04/2013 13:57

Another thing I like is how each judge represents a particular genre or style of music. Will I Am is hip hop/R&B, Jessie J is contemporary pop, Tom Jones is for the older and big voiced singers and Danny is rock/indie.

OP posts:
pictish · 20/04/2013 14:00

Danny's not rock or indie - he's a twat. The Script are crap.

KateBeckett · 20/04/2013 14:00

I love the voice!! The judges fit so well together and are so funny and the singers they have on are of a much better quality :)

HeySoulSister · 20/04/2013 14:00

Danny o Donaghue.....whats not to like?? Grin

WorriedMummy73 · 20/04/2013 14:01

Pictish - thank you. I didn't want to be the first to have a go at Danny, but the way he sits with his feet up or his knee bent, and the fact that he's so earnest, makes me sick in my face!

WorraLiberty · 20/04/2013 14:02

I like it

I like Jessie J too but she's really winding me up...trying to turn it into the Jessie J show.

KirjavaTheCat · 20/04/2013 14:05

That couple who sang together, what were they called.. Jones and Jones or something? They were incredibly staged. I hope they're staging themselves and it's not the show's doing.

I agree, Danny wouldn't know rock if someone threw one at him.

Fairylea · 20/04/2013 14:06

We all love it! :)

Dh is pleased to be off work today so he can watch it with us all later... ! That's how sad we are :)

sarahandemily · 20/04/2013 14:08

I sort of love and hate it but will defo be watching. Will.i.am is pure genius, Danny is a complete Pratt who can't decide anything for himself and Jesse is a fake. I can't stand it when they spend too long on the persuading who to choose bit and it winds me up when they say I would have turned if I'd known how old you were or I whish I had turned. Doesn't make any difference - either they are good enough or not.

WorriedMummy73 · 20/04/2013 14:10

The other thing I noticed (from my one viewing!) is the way they whisper to each other 'are you going?', 'you should go', etc, then they all bastard-well turn! Wtf is THAT about???

Confused...

KirjavaTheCat · 20/04/2013 14:12

I think it was last week that one of them asked another what the singer looked like Shock

Surely that's the whole point of the backs turned thing? To judge purely on voice alone? I was surprised they didn't edit it out.

NoelHeadbands · 20/04/2013 14:12

Come and join in on the threads in Telly Addicts.

Only um, well we do take the piss a bit Blush but its all said with love

WorraLiberty · 20/04/2013 14:12

If you think that's sad Fairylea

My and the DC's sit with our backs to the TV and turn around if we like them Blush Grin

Fairylea · 20/04/2013 14:13

:) worra I'm going to try that tonight :)
